Romo was also fortunate enough to be paired with Nance. A Hall of Fame broadcaster like that can help mask a lot of early growing pains.
Drew was paired with Mike Tirico though. He’s not quite as good as Nance, but he’s in that upper echelon of play by play guys for sure.
*They also both called Notre Dame games that season for NBC, so it’s not he was completely thrown to the wolves, but he probably should’ve spent a bit more time before calling an nfl playoff game.

People fell in love with Romo because he called plays before they happened based on formations. He has gotten a pretty big pass and people keep saying he's great. He was pretty awful in the booth this last year.
You'd think that the networks would look to just hire guys who are good at talking and not try to fill the booth with ex QBs. Or, actually put these guys through a program that would train them by doing podcasts, radio, etc. This would give them some experience filling airtime along with letting the network see if they are boring or not.
Just taking chances on ex-players and throwing them millions of dollars is an odd decision.

Yah I agree Romo is average at best.
Olsen is far better than Romo. Lots of pressure on Brady but supposedly he’s working his butt off prepping with Lil Baby Kev Kev to be ready.

Drew is hurting for a job. Bunch of failed ventures and poor investments

I’ll still support my QB1 with a tuna sub

Will be interesting to how Tom Brady does.
I have my doubts. Obviously he knows the game. But Brady doesn't have a particularly engaging personality. He has an intense personality, seemingly bordering on wacko at times. Peyton Manning is the Holy Grail for networks that they can't get. Incredible knowledge of the game to go along with a highly entertaining personality

I remember Jordy saying after the flag comment/question that was asked to Drew, he always had to have the questions prior to his interviews.

So I guess that Buck is saying Drew has No job because he had a supported the Flag before he cucked? also that Pic with Trump in the Suite may be a factor too...Pure Politics...
Just one more reason NOT to support the NFL.

Tony Romo ruined it for others. He took to color commentary like a fish to water and now everyone expects other retired QBs to be like him.
Tony Romo’s first few years were not all peaches and crème. There were some early concerns like his football career that he might choke. But CBS was patient and allowed him to grow and mentored him well.
As far as NBC, it was like they threw Drew Brees out onto the football field without an offensive line and expected him to throw a touchdown pass each time.
It is probably why Tom Brady is so skittish on his Fox deal and delayed it, besides also dealing with some family drama. Brady could bomb out pretty early or he could be second coming of John Madden or Howard Cosell.

Here's the real reason right here...

Apparently he spent last off season learning/practicing to be prepared for this season. I’m not a fan of his personality either. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

BTW does anybody know what the "one comment" was?
I think he's referring to the stuff during the kneeling "controversy" where Drew basically said that its disrespectful to the people that died in defense of the country. Then he backpaddled to try to save his locker room and NBC contract.
