The 2006 draft and the handful of stellar FAs the team picked up early were outliers, Benson has always sucked as an NFL owner, Loomis has always sucked as a talent evaluator and GM. And Payton seems lost.

The season; the era is over. It was great...but it`s over.

Outside of 2009 the saints have been mediocre. There never was an "era."

Didn't we miss the playoffs last year and now we're worse?

And 2011. Boy, did they frick up that year. That should have been another title. But worthless defense cost us at the end. Like they have pretty much majority of the time under Payton.

Elaborate on how Benson has always sucked as an owner and define what that means and how he compares to the average or mediocre owner.

This problem is 75% Loomis, 20% coaches and 5% players. Too many draft misses and dead money contracts to not be mostly on Loomis. Payton and Ryan shoulder some blame but playing with 75% of the money other teams play with hurts. The players are playing hard but many players should be solid reserves not starters like Breaux, Phillips, Hawthorne, Lelito, Colston, Coleman, Snead, and Evans should be cut.

While I tend to agree, was a close road game against a 3-0 divisional rival with our backup qb the thing that caused you to believe this?

New Orleans had 5 turnovers in that game. The 49ers had 0.

And still almost won on the road.
We spotted the 49ers 14pts out the gate. Had fumbles on kickoffs and Sproles even had a fumble. Sproles hadn't fumbled all year...weird things.

Defense was given short fields. That defense kept us in the game

Were you expecting a win today with Brees out?

Very strange post.
