I pulled up Louisville vs #6 ranked Miami Hurricanes from last year and watch Tyler play against a 6-0 Cam Ward led team and was impressed with his performance! I haven’t watched his other games yet but I plan on it!

Can't speak for all those less than tens you speak of but why lump in people who think its possible CKM got it right with those that seemingly loved Carr, Allen and Loomis all at the same time?

The same people who loved Carr and thought that this team would compete are the same ones here talking themselves up to Shough at pick 40. They defend Loomis. They wanted to give Allen leash. It’s blind fandom, which fine, but they do not like to live in reality

It's a little bit different to be more optimistic about a 2nd round pick than a veteran QB who has done absolutely nothing to earn a $40m/yr contract

You’re going to have a lot of people who watch him do things well and say “hold your horses, let’s wait and see” and then watch him do something not great and say “ha he sucks” and average that out to “he sucks”.

The ultimate dig in. Awful takes by looking at stats.com lmao

That’s not a take, just a fact. Just imagine if he was 25 years old playing at UF

There’s reason for optimism. I have no issue with believing in Kellen Moore and Shough’s profile.

There is way more nuance at play here

62.7% comp is not accurate. He was 10th in the ACC

Josh Allen was a 56% passer in college. Not saying he's Josh Allen but let's not act like that can't be improved on.

8% of his passes were throwaways, most in the draft

He also only had 6 ints. Maybe there's a reason that is???
quote:

People say don’t worry about the injuries, but one could surmise he’s scared to get hit

He gets injured running but he's scared to run?? As I said, one was just an injury that wasn't cared for properly getting injured again (collarbone) and the other injury was the result of a hip-drop tackle, which we all know has been banned from the NFL because of how dangerous it is for players.
quote:

We are told not to worry about his injuries, but his injuries in college were when he was running with the ball, far as I can find.

Running with the ball is usually when players get hurt, of course qbs get sacked also.
quote:

Don’t think that’s it. We can all hope for the best with Shough. Just don’t ignore what’s right in front of ya, don’t overthink this one

No, but I have this in front of me and I would rather look for why I should be supporting this player. Louis Riddick and other analyst I have a semi-respect for are telling us this guy may be the best thrower in the draft, not my words. I don't give a crap about what happened in college anymore, just like I didn't care that I used to hate Winston before he came here. Once he is in Black and Gold, I am all in until shown a reason to doubt.

One of the things I have heard is that it did appear he was very scared to get hit at Louisville ans was very overly cautious at times.

he won't take a sack. Not a bad thing but if it's because he doesn't want to get hit? Yikes!

Edit: point being there is no getting around not getting hit. Even in today's NFL. I mean just a few years ago it was the Year of the backup because so many starters were getting hurt. For different reasons yeah but still...

He made a few decent throws but overall he was outclassed by Cam Ward. Ward looked like he was playing a video game. Louisville made some big plays (run game, special teams, screens) to keep this game somewhat close

It is not the pick. It is where the pic was made.

And it is not deranged to say the 9th pick in the second round was too high because he had three season-ending injuries and he was only available for 20 games the last three years. Observing that he gets rattled when pressure is dialed up, spraying balls throwing off his heels, is not derangement. Shough was only fifth in passing yards in a weak ACC..

There were at least 30 players at other need positions for the Saints available who would have been starters in 2025. It is likely Shough may have been available rounds later.

I get the potential and hope he becomes successful but they over paid for POTENTIAL with the pick.

Tyler played well against Miami on that day! He made more throws than you wanting to give credit for. Miami had a TD land in their defensive laps with a 2yd fumble recovery in the endzone. Ward was #1 pick for a reason so him being impressing is to be expected! You probably wanted the Saints to draft Sanders or otherwise you wouldn’t be pounding on them for the Shough pick. Maybe I’m wrong ????

I agree he played well. I’ll say he had 2 or 3 really impressive throws. Where as watching Ward he had probably a dozen or more. Tyler managed the game. Cam took over the game. Louisville as a team, outplayed Miami but Ward was unstoppable.

Completely false

Multiple broken bones can do that. Once he gets comfortable again it'll be fine

NFL rushers are no place for a QB to get comfortable. Shough lacks toughness which is why you see the back foot and panicked throws.

I rather win 4-5 with shough/rattler than 7 with Carr. F Carr = douche
