I am truly wondering why the commissioner hates Sean Payton ? One day, I hope Sean lays the cards on the table and tells his side of the story. Goodell seems to have an angry vendetta against Payton and it seems unrelated to the hocus pocus Bountygate BS.

I think Payton's maybe on the bubble, outside looking in right now.

Honestly, I think he needs a run with another QB after Drew retires to lock it up.

I think that CSP would have to act as Goodell's personal bidet to get in.

Is everyone in here somehow forgetting the team he took over?

He took over a 3 win program following Katrina and in his first season took them to the NFC championship.

Until his suspension no other coach had more wins than Sean Payton in the entire NFL. Not even Bill B.

Sean Payton is still a consistently top 3 HC in his era.

And he brought a championship to New Orleans.

He built a consistent winner in New Orleans..

He is absolutely on his way to HOF.

True but when those Cowboy teams started to roll, they were something else. And winning 2 SB's in consecutive years is pretty rare. And, the Cowboys have been dog shite without Johnson so clearly he was doing something that Jones has been able to recreate.

Jimmy might be a little overrated, just my opinion. He didn't do nearly as well in Miami and he had full control over personnel there. I read that he supposedly didn't get along with Dan Marino, don't know how much of that is true. He also had two 1st round picks that were complete busts

Yes but he needs to win one more Super Bowl to remove any question.

Didn't the Cowboys win another super bowl after Johnson with switzer?

He has 131 wins and is getting close to HOF coaches which is in that 140 win region and higher. He has a Superbowl so at this point I would say yes he will be in the HOF at some point. A second Superbowl would solidify ,but even if not he is still on pace for over 200 wins as a HC.

I think it’s too early to say definitively at this point. Mike Tomlin and CSP basically have the same stats as far as years, wins and Super Bowls. I think they both get in after another four to five years of coaching. Only issue will be how long they will hold Bountygate against Payton. (Not that the should because it’s stupid!)

Payton is a no brainer HOFer. He’s been the best coach in football since 06 minus Bill B.

Right now. No. But if he coaches another 10 years or so yes. Hes ranked like 27th all time in wins and i feel he hasnt really coached that long and could still go many more years if he wanted to.

Payton’s legacy is already awesome however IMO his true talent will be defined oh his offense and teams post Drew Brees. If he maintains his success without Drew it’s hard to see how that wouldn’t put him in the HOF.

Everyone knows without a doubt he should've had a second Super Bowl appearance, maybe a win.
