Would you take him? What would it cost?

Would be a similar haul as for Watson and I’d do it in a heartbeat. Murray has more upside than any QB we’ll have the option of getting anytime soon.

He’s 4 feet tall, can’t read a defense, has ZERO intangibles, and has a playstyle that has a very short window for success.

Hard pass.

While this may be true, my concern is he's still not worth

For that kind of cost, you need someone that has the ability to put the team on his shoulders from time to time and will a win they don't deserve. I am not sure Murray can do that, and the investment would keep you from building & maintaining a solid foundation around him.

On the other side, you can take an above average QB and build the talent around him, and let those assets (specifically Def) occasionally carry your QB to wins

I’d rather roll with Jameis than take this midget.

If you look at the last 10 SBs, only 3 won with a non-elite QB:
Los Angeles Rams 2022
Philadelphia Eagles 2018
Baltimore Ravens 2013

Your chances of winning with a non-elite QB is much much lower and requires you to have an almost perfect roster.

Brady for his career is very much elite. I don't think he was elite in 2021 though

I'm not sure he wants to play football much longer.

Baseball contracts are way nicer and he can probably get back to the MLB.

I agree, but think Matthew Stafford is a elite QB.

I always thought so….just played for a bad team and organization.

Kyler Murray would set us back another five years in a search for an elite QB

First of all, are you saying Murray is Elite? I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he is elite.

quote:

If you look at the last 10 SBs, only 3 won with a non-elite QB:

Last 10 SB winners
Flacco
Wilson
Brady *4
Peyton Manning
Foles
Mahomes
Stafford

Secondly, this stat could be manipulated to say there were 3 non-elite QBs to win the SB in the last 10 years, and only 4 different elite QBs to win the SB in the last 10 years. You could also change that to say your chances of winning without Brady is much lower

Foles is the only QB on that list that is not elite. (I’m my opinion)

Y’all can argue about that.

But I would absolutely say you need a top 5 type QB to win a SuperBowl.

Of course there are exceptions.
(As Captain Obvious Mr. Exception to the Rule will point out)

But if you are not searching with all of your heart, soul, energy, and money
To get your top 5 QB

You’re not doing it right.

Kyler Murray is not that guy.

If you think Murray is elite and Stafford is not, you need to reevaluate what you call elite.

In 2020 he had over 4k total yards and 37 touchdowns at 22-23 years old. He has a ton of potential to become a top 5 QB in the right environment. I’d say we have no opportunity to get a QB that has that potential. No QB this year has that talent and we don’t have a pick next year. So unless you’re betting that we pick top 5 in 2024 then we won’t have that shot. Murray is worth the gamble imo.
