Likely because:
1) He didnt go to LSU
2) Is not from the SEC (therefore he automatically sucks)
3) His games were probably late at night and everyone on this board was passed out drunk when this kid was catching passes
4) This board has had an absolute hard on for Patrick Queen or Kenneth Murray for 5 months now and the mere suggestion that the Saints would even so much as consider anyone else at 24 is an act of war

That's basically Jefferson's time, but w/ an injury. I like Aiyuk.

I think they had Kamara as a high second and he kept falling so they snagged him.

I remember Sean saying that he considered taking Kamara at the spot they drafted Marcus Williams. It was an early second round pick

Very strong chance that Jefferson is gone before our pick. CeeDee and Jeudy will be taken in the top 20. Ruggs or Jefferson is getting drafted by the eagles at 22. Eagles have to go wide receiver in this draft and addressed their other needs in FA. I think they go Ruggs if given the choice but there are several other teams that can justifiable take a wide receiver in the first before our pick.

Exactly and they had Williams as a first rounder.

A lot of places had Williams in the third and Kamara in the third/fourth. Not to discount what these guys do and a lot of them are right but a lot of them are wrong too just like scouts and FO’s. The difference is how the “experts” approach a draft opposed to how teams approach the draft, which is why the majority of mocks are wrong

And too early for me means there will be better players on the board
I get what you are saying about "If he is your guy go get him", but if he isn't graded as a first then that doesn't work

But who says he is too early at 24? A lot of analysts have him ranked as a top 20 player in the draft. I think the only reason a lot of mocks have him in the second is bc he has an injury and the hype around some of the other guys. There is no telling where the gms really grade him and where he will go. You are just looking at mock drafts and deciding that we are reaching

With that being said we never pick the guys that we reportedly “like” leading up to the draft so it may be smoke.

No I'm not just going off of mocks
I just feel like there will be better players at 24, just my opinion

Mocks are absolutely pointless to form an opinion like that off of

Besides that, Aiyuk is a 1st is just about every recent one I’ve seen

You can name cornerbacks from random SEC teams? Even if you can, it would be because you watch the SEC weekly and not the PAC 12.

I could get on board with Aiyuk in a blink of an eye.

this is a fricking talented roster we have already.

adding him would be great but i also feel like if he wasn't the pick we'd still be in great shape.

this is a good class.

Nothing?

You said you were going off mocks

Most of the mocks gave him in 1st

I think he's a first round grade for sure but plenty of those guys slip into the second. Payton has already said they would be a little more hesitant with guys that could have character issues or recent injury histories when they normally wouldnt.

I would still love if they took Aiyuk at 24 but I can see where they think he might slip and take Murray or Epenesa or someone like that and then try and trade back into the second to nab Aiyuk. Payton and Ireland like to be aggressive and if Aiyuk is one of Payton's guys and he starts falling, they'll move up and get him.

I could also see them just taking the best defensive player at 24 and then taking one of the many NFL ready WRs that will be in round 3, saving the future picks needed to move up. So so much depth this year and another thing Payton has mentioned as being a strength in this draft.

What this means is they take a qb nobody has ever heard of in the 1st
