incorrect, the two just don't have any special relationship cuz they are in the same state.
100% true

But watching lsu players dominate the NFL defensively , and in our own division, at the same time we have historically bad defenses, make even sane people a little paranoid

Who wouldn't rather cheer for guys that played for their favorite college than against them?

There just seems to be a significant influx of draft criticism from many who do not come across as Saints fans at all.

I will repeat again I am huge saints fan because I know I ruffled your feathers.

Allegiance to your home area still carries some weight cuz ya can decide yourself coming out of high school. Not so in the NFL, it is all business at the pro level.

No one is denying any of this.

The they-hate-LSU is a worn out act.

I don't think they hate LSU but you would be crazy to not think something is going on. When year after year LSU produces multiple draft picks at positions of need and the saints has only drafted one player in the Sean Payton era.

Coming in and degrading the Saints just cuz they haven't selected LSU players is a high school to college argument not an NFL one.

I love the freaking Saints I can't tell you how much money I have spent on tickets and merchandise through the years but I am a realist and can admit that they are freaking horrible at drafting and developing defensive talent. If you can't see that then you are delusional.

Understandable but it would be nice to draft a few lsu guys here and there.
It's unforgivable in my opinion to not draft La'el Collins in the 7th a few years ago, despite the problems he had.

He had no problems. He was only questioned on that because that was his ex girlfriend. The police even said at no point was he a suspect. But this scared teams off. The Saints being 80 miles away were in a better situation than any other team to find out what was what. They showed no interest in him even though it was at a position of need.

Travin Dural just signed.

All complaints about Saints and LSU are now null and void.
Here and forever.

Most Bama fans are geographical orphans who have no professional team to root for and only follow the Saints because of Ingram.

I wouldn't doubt there are some bipolar Bama fans that equally root for ATL because of Julio just as they do for Saints/Ingram.

Yet it's usually the Gumps that scream the loudest on this board with anti-LSU-on-Saints-Talk threads.

Some of my favorite Saints were Dalton Hilliard, Eric Martin, Hokie Gajan, and Devery Henderson. They weren't the greatest Saints (on the level of Brees or the Dome Patrol) but bc of the LSU connection, it made them unforgettable. Then if I imagine out-loud what could've been if OBJ, PP7, Mathieu, Kwon, Debo, etc were Saints, somehow it's a travesty.

Simply expressing how much better the Saints product would be if they shopped at a quality known NFL factory, instead of the bargain-bin for injury-riddled steals or at small school thrift stores, it draws the ire of orphaned Gumps and geriatric lovers of blues on this board.

GFY's.

I understand the saints have one of the highest paid coaches in all of professional sports, but continues to put out a defense that is down right embarrassing.

Many Bama fans that are also Saints fans follow the Saints not because of Ingram but because the Saints are the closest NFL team to half the state of Alabama. The other half are usually Failcon fans. Now if Ingram was a QB and starting (like Newton and Auburn fans being Panthers fans) then you would be right but he plays the far less important/glamorous position of RB. The majority of Bama fans (not me) actually hate that Ingram plays for the Saints and wishes he were elsewhere. Now when Ingram has good games I do like it as a Saints fan first and a Bama fan second.

Fact of the matter is the Saints have had the opportunity to draft some really good players in their own backyard and have not for whatever reason.Maybe Benson is still pissed at LSU for the rude treatment he received in TS when he was trying to move the Saints in the aftermath of Katrina

But on a section called Saints talk. Pretty sure there are numerous places here to get your LSU rocks off.

I don't hate LSU, I just dont care where the players come from.

just for reference, I started this thread in response to another now down into the second page. Example of not constructive criticism but just a derogatory anti-Saints rant...

quote:

I know it is disappointing that the Saints once again didn't come close to drafting a Tiger and keeping him at home. But in all honestly it is most likely in the players best interest that they didn't draft you. Because if you want to develop and advance as a player New Orleans is probably one of the last organizations you want to go to.

That is just your opinion.

Anti-Saints? People who know me would laugh you out of the room with that comment. Believe what you want about me I don't care but I stick by what I said. The Saints under Peyton have done a terrible job of drafting and developing defensive talent. I hope that changes.
