There is word that he will restructure hia contract making it less of a cap burden!

What exactly do you think this is? A day one starter is not dropping to the 29th pick. I think you have to sell we will be a playoff contender in a weak division. With Carr, we'd be picked to win the division.

Loomis isn’t going anywhere. He could literally go winless and Gayle wouldn’t fire him and he knows it too. I miss Tom in times like these. He could be a fricker at times but he also loved the Saints and would make the tough decisions to make the team better. If he’s still alive I think Sean us still here. Gayle makes it very obvious she favors the Pelicans over the Saints. Loomis is involved with an NFL team and an NBA team. That’s ridiculous. The two untouchables are Loomis and Lousha with Khai Harley up there too. We are going g to be bad next year so if we are going to suck I would rather do it with a rookie QB to see what he’s got. You still have to bring a vet like Dalton or Teddy in but if we draft a QB in the first 3 rounds they should see the field very soon. Hendon Hooker or Jaren Hall on day 2 of the draft would be intriguing picks for us but I think if we don’t trade down out of 29 (which we should do) then we have to take an interior OL or interior DL. Peat is goi g to be gone so he needs to be replaced. Getting someone like O’Cyrus Torrence at 29 would be a great pick to replace Peat and would be a plug and play guy day 1.

This is an exceedingly rosy outlook regarding our current roster IMO. Dennis Allen, Pete Carmichael and Carr are not holding a Super Bowl window open
Maybe we go 9-8 if everything goes right. Then we will get blasted by the eagles or niners of the world.

I am not an expert on the Saints salary cap or the costs of the 53 man roster. My 0.02 cents ain’t much but it seems to me that’s it’s better to get under the cap and rebuild with a younger cheaper roster. You basically give up on the next two seasons but hopefully come out the other end with a franchise quarterback to start another 10 year run.

If this is true, and I could see it being true, then it's a losing attitude and strategy. It feels like playing not to lose rather than playing to win. Sounds like we could have a long haul of grasping at mediocrity while putting off the inevitable and slowly draining the resources for a hard reset.

There's no way they won't turn a profit in the NFL but they will see an obvious dip in butts in seats if they run back the Allen/Carmichael/Dalton trio.

You may be right, but I was thinking about Penning at LT, Hurst slides to LG. Yes, DT is the position of need. Not to say the value for DT is right at 29, but oline should not be the first choice.
I am completely on board with riding with Dalton one more year, and drafting Hooker, or another QB this year.

Nobody thinks we're going to be title contenders or, even, a good team. Long-term we are making a really bad situation worse.
It's also risky, because if Carr isn't all that, or if he gets hurt, etc. then we are legitimately screwed Now for at least 4 years an possibly more than 5

If you aren't making a profit as an NFL owner then you should seriously look at who is running the franchise and make a change immediately!

Yeah I mean I'd take Carr at $10M/year, but who is projecting that? He's going to demand $20M at a min and probably more than $25M AAV
The only way we can fit that into our cap is by giving him a huge signing bonus and putting more strain on future years that are already crippled. Then we will have to redo a bunch of contracts and extend guys like Cam, Taysom, etc. again, screwing over future years instead of doing the smart thing and creating exit plans for them.

Yeah and it doesn't even make sense because, like I said earlier, Gayle is going to have to write a bunch of huge checks today that she wouldn't have had to otherwise, to make this work. It's going to make immediate profitability more difficult.
