If the Saints sign Baker Mayfield

He could be the next drew brees.
Similarities are really there, short in stature, from Texas, Midwest college, not drafted by the saints to name a few.
This would be a home run.

Well, Drew Brees was not a worthless QB that all his teammates hated. But I guess they are both small.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I think Andy Dalton is better than whopper jr hands mayfield.

Every short quarterback has something in common with Drew Brees.

Both white too. Similarities are plentiful

IF the Saints signed Mayfield AND Mayfield comes in here with the same chip on his shoulder (No pun intended) that Brees had looking to prove his last team messed up by not believing in him. Mayfield will do very well provided our coaching staff improves.

Our coaching staff sucks and is one of the worst in the NFL.

agree. if we aren't getting carr to a deal that won't cripple us, then dalton is the next best option. he had a solid year in '22. right now, for '23, he's in the top half of the league as a qb. need to patch up the oline(mainly stay healthy) and have more than one and half starting caliber wrs. need a solid starting caliber rb to go with kamara.
dalton may not elevate a team, but he can sure as hell win games if he has a decent offense around him. he can only do so much when guys fumble at the one yard line and drop passes that hit them in the hands, chest and face while standing in the endzone.

As long as DA is the coach I have zero expectations for literally any move they make.

Drew Brees was a cornerstone

That’s just really reaching. Short by QB standards, came from the same state and white. That’s about it.

That 15 minute video by OBJ's Dad that compiled every play that OBJ was wide open and showed Baker either didn't even notice him open or look his way... or Baker threw his way, but couldn't get it to him accurately and/or on time...that's when I realized he was garbage, & not just still young/underdeveloped.
Then Cleveland desperately chasing Watson & the Panthers also benching Baker only further cemented my opinion.

If CSP was here to develop him, then id be all for it. Our current coaching staff isnt developing anyone.

Baker at $6 mill>>>>Carr at $16 mill

Neither will sign for that. My guess is Baker will probably be in the $22-25M range and car in the $30-34M range. Especially when you consider there are 8-10 teams looking for a QB, including all 4 teams in the South (3 if Atl think Ridder is the future)

I like Baker. I think he got a raw deal in Cleveland. Panthers were a disaster area with Rhule. He goes to LA and the only thing I didn’t like was the try hard bullshite of head butting other players without a helmet like a dumbass.
The thing with Baker is he needs his hand held. He’s not mature and I don’t think the Saints have the best culture at the moment.
I’d take Baker but he wouldn’t be my first choice. Would rather keep Dalton.
