The go hand in hand.

If he's not physically able to play the position of QB, then he's not good.

Again, I haven't closed the book yet though, but I'm worried.

What's your solution?

He very clearly can't throw the ball down the field (hell past 10 yards) accurately/consistently.

Saints aren't going to win a lot of games with that.
I can tell you what's not a realistic solution and has never been...see the OP.

He did. It was last season.

We’ll win the division most likely

No competitor is just going to give up and call it quits. Foh.

Brees has done way too much for this franchise to go out like that. Let him have his last year.

Also it's still early. Med staff can still get that HGH dosage right and power up his arm.

Turn it around from where?

When’s the last time we played well in week 2?

This is an unpopular opinion these days but the man brought our franchise back from the brink. Let him have a final season

Absolutely.

Given all he's done for the Saints, it's not that he deserves to be bad, but as long as he was good just last season(he was) he deserved another shot.

If he's just truly done and a shite QB this season, that sucks, but I'll live with that and giving him a final shot this season.

I have irrational confidence when it comes to my abilities playing sports, and I never remotely sniffed a pro or even college team, now imagine Drew Brees

So here's the question.

We know Brees won't voluntarily bench himself.

If he continues to show that he can't throw the ball, does Payton just let it ride and chalk this season up as a loss? Or does he make the decision for him?

I hope these last two games were anomalies, but we all knew this day was coming. I don't think it's irrational to think Brees' arm is done.

Eh, I dunno.

Carolina is no threat, but Tampa and Atlanta can 100% win this division.

If Brees can't get it together and if his arm truly is done, I don't see how we win the division.

How many times in your 3 sports did you tell your coach to bench you for the better player when you were having a bad night or knew someone was just flat better than you, or how many times did you tell a teammate what your'e saying in the OP when you knew someone else was better than them?

if you played 3 sports that much, it had to have happened a shite ton, so how many times did you do what you're claiming Drew should do when you played your 3 sports?

His bad throws had zero to do with his physical capabilities. There’s miscommunication and this will be an outstanding offense as more reps are had

So Brees is done, but Brady still has it?

I know I've said it and I'll repeat, I'm not there yet.

But as much as I love Brees and just argued he deserved another season, he's also not above being benched. Especially if we're eeking out some wins and can win the division/get to the playoffs.

If at any point this season Payton feels Winston is the better option, he should go to that option without hesitation IMO.

But as you said, the idea of Drew benching himself is just a historically bad take.

If I knew my team was a SB Caliber team, and I also knew that even if I gave it 200%, I was the reason the team was getting held back, I would 100% have at minimum a conversation with my coach as to what we can do to improve this situation, and if there was a better option, to sit because at the end of the day its about the TEAM, not ME.

Edit: Clearly I did not play professional ball. Just High School.

It's not impossible that Brady's arm has a little more life left compared to Brees.

This is not an "if" you said you played 3 sports, so how many times did you volunteer yourself to be taken out and/or how many times did you tell another player to do so?

It's a pretty simple question, how many times did you do what you're advocating Brees should do in all your years of playing 3 sports?

The last person to know they can't get it done any more is the aging superstar. There is a less than zero chance that Drew Brees thinks there's another QB on the roster. Just the notion of the tiniest inkling that Brees would think that is the height of absurdity.

Let's pull a time machine to the Falcons game in NO last year.

That was hot take city that Brees was done. Saints proceeded to score 34, 34, 26, 46, 34, 38, and 42 to finish the regular season.

Without MT, this is going to be hard to recover from.

Never.

Again, High School Sports != Professional Sports on any metric and to use it as a semi quasi comparison for situations is kinda odd.
