If you had to make the choice who would you rather have in Nola? You know Danny isn’t going to make the regular squad in Green Bay so I think we should cut ties with Ian Book and let Etling backup Winston.

Danny was pretty good at LSU and appears that he’s gotten in great shape and looks better. When he was at New England he was asked to play wr once it was known he wouldn’t make the roster at qb.

What say you?

I say Winston already has a back up. It’s Andy Dalton.

Etling has been on an active roster like one time in 5 seasons. He did run in a straight line better than Book tonight though.

I kind of think Etling would be better than Dalton, I know Dalton has more experience but Etling always seems like he’s had the ability to be very serviceable and I am not sure if we have an above average qb on the roster. The saints at qb (as a whole) have to be ranked at the bottom in the nfl. It just sucks that the entire team seems like it will be good at most positions with the defense having an expectation of being top tier.

I want to have faith in Winston but unfortunately I don’t have it.

Andy Dalton is a 3x Pro Bowler... Danny Etling is a 7x practice squad player

The only thing I want to see Ian Book do in New Orleans is carry his bags through the airport!

I don’t want either one of them starting for my NFL team.

What? Look, I love Etling but Dalton is probably one of the most quality backups in the league. I would most definitely put Danny over Ian Book though. That dude is dogshit.

I would say neither is worth rostering and if you are starting your 3rd string QB your season is probably shot no matter who is back there. Keep someone who is actually talented and earned a roster spot elsewhere.

He has to be. Either that or he's really drunk. Im a huge LSU homer too but LSU Etling cant even hold a candle to college Dalton...Dalton took TCU undefeated and won the Rose Bowl. NFL wise 3x pro bowler and made the playoffs 4x as a starter and has 152 NFL starts under his belt. Etling is a career practice squad bouncer without a single regular season snap, has he even ever been on a 53 man roster during an NFL game?

I'm happy for Etling's services as a Tiger and it's cool to see him have these preseason moments and I was as proud as anyone seeing him have his senior day walk down moment and subsequently beat the tar out of TAMU in 2017. But like, cmon man.

Yeah, don’t you love it when people are all to happy to show the world their IQ hovers in the mid 80s?

Then why are we keeping Winston he hasn't earned anything his whole career. Dalton is a better option at this point.
