This is why it’s so difficult. When they threatened to leave New Orleans I tried to leave the saints behind... Didn’t want to be emotionally attached, but I couldn’t do it.

The bottom line is this league is about profit not competition. The competition is merely a function of the profit motive. They are selling a product and the product is actually pride and transcendence.

I have pride in something bigger than myself. It’s a neurological hormone they are selling and I am addicted. Maybe It’s how we are hard wired as human beings.

Personally, I believe the truth in many ways is we replace God with The transcendent connection with sports today. We need him, but we don’t want him, so we substitute him.

I am going to walk away again, tough thing to do but I am tired of the cheap alternatives where there is no justice or fulfillment.

Pretty sure this is a good thing. I realize I will probably get downvoted but file this post away and when something similar happens maybe it will be enough for you to do the same. ???????

I have begun the process of walking away.

I wrote myself a letter.

No fantasy football next year
No watching of games unless it involves the Saints.

These two things will begin the process.

Then if the Saints have a bad season a few years from now it will be easier to ignore the NFL.

I did this as well.

Yesterday still hurts more than 2011 when I was football obsessed.

He should be marketing the heck out of the xfl

i have done that the last 20 years. Only watch saints. that did absolutely ZERO good in walking away. i was attached as much as ever

i agree with the OP though. i am not mad at saints but the NFL. still may be enough to be done altogether. we will see later in year

I understand your emotions. I did not sleep last night.

I hope exhaustion kicks in soon for me.

I despise the NFL but will always applaud the effort of our team and coaches.

I no longer lay blame with the Saints coaches and players.

It has become painfully obvious the type of handicaps the team has had to overcome.

Just quit watching every other game that the Saints don't play in. It is not that hard.

I'll support the saints, but I'm tearing off any NFL logos and defacing it when I see it

we used to always say " well thank GOD we have LSU" when the saints would suck so it did not bother us as bad then.

that old saying died an untimely death post 1-9

LSU has not done shite since then nor have I been emotionally attached anymore due to their lack of commitment to win hardware anymore. i put everything into saints now football wise and this is the shite sammich we are fed by the corrupt NFL? pathetic

Yesterday was the first full game I’ve watched due to working a lot of Sunday’s or just tired of the NFL’s rules.I’m now done with Goodell and the NFL . I’m also close to giving up on collage football.

I’m walking away from pro sports after yesterday. I can watch scripted sports entertainment every Monday and Tuesday night without the high blood pressure.

It's very difficult to be a fan of a game that has important rules that must be officiated and applied, when the game has yet to find a way to apply those rules in a consistent manner from game to game and even from play to play.

Would you be a fan of Chess if the rules could change during the game?

I DVR all games that I'm interested in and watch them on a delay so that I can fast forward through the commercials and penalty breaks. If the Saints lose, I don't bother to watch the game at all.

That was the last 3 years for me. Other happenings in the NFL turned me off. In 3 years, I have literally watched no NFL games that the Saints weren't playing in. That includes playoffs and Super Bowls.

My life is better for it. I tried to walk away but I've just got too damn much Black&Gold blood flowing through these veins. If the Saints ever were to get relocated, it'd be an easy decision to walk.

...but having been a rabid fan since the Bum Phillips days, it's too hard to write this team off, even if for the greater good. All I can say at this point is I'm glad we'll always have SB44 where we defied the odds and took it all... because it's pretty obvious the League isn't going to let us have the opportunity to get another.

Only makes that season even more memorable. And at least while we're still here, we can continue to keep the Falcants out of the playoffs
