True, maybe if you are losing and just trying to force a fumble maybe you go I stupid.

Idk this is sad.

I think when he was about to caught it I almost forgot all they needed was to tackle him in bounds.

I was worried he was going to catch it and get out of bounds for the kick... and then the safety just whiffs altogether

That's idiotic. He tried the typical dive at the legs tackle and whiffed instead of wrapping up

No.... you are wrong.

He got there ahead of the ball (miss-timed) and went low to try and avoid the PI. He miss played it. But he intentionally missed. Sucks, cuz this will be with him his whole life.

Watch the replay. He's not even close to running full speed. He didn't even need to go at the ball just let him catch the ball and tackle him

He was on him because the Diggs catching it and quickly getting out of bounds is a loss too

If he was the CB, then sure. As the safety, his ONLY job is to make sure he doesn't get past him. HIS ONLY JOB.

either way, it's situational awareness 101... the ONLY thing you have to do is keep it in front of you and in bounds... thats it... games over... there's no way to run out the FG team and kick a FG, and they have no timeouts... you have to KNOW this going into it, period....

i'm not gonna be stupid and say cut him, or anything of that ilk, and he is a rookie with a bright future, but damn Marcus... you had one job, bro...

He likely did it thinking he’d get called for a penalty hitting a defenseless reciever. It sucks and he still should have made the play but this is going to happen more these days because of how the game has been changed. Unfortunately worked out against the Saints this time.

All Diggs is thinking is catch it and get out of bounds.

I was almost surprised he didn't do this instinctively and set up the 52 yard field goal.

He was as surprised as the rest of us no one was there.

He closed hisceyes and dropped his head, 2 basic fundamentals violated. Either he was coached improperly or he doesn't have the ability to comprehend. I've watched the Saints since 1967 and have seen some very bad plays. This is by far the most egregiuos I have ever witnessed.

We were playing a defense that purposely was allowing that catch in order to make the tackle and run the clock out

Should have given them the middle of the field. No way they're completing a pass in the middle of the field in field-goal range and spiking the football in 10 seconds. No way.

It's certainly the biggest screw-up in franchise history when you consider the game circumstances and what was at stake in the posteason. Saints have never been this close to a postseason win and not won it.
