These are the kind of moves you make for a franchise QB not a hybrid defensive player.

If Dickhead Micky did that, people would riot.

Saints should trade down, but won’t.

We only have Shough at his cheap salary for 4 years so somehow pulling off a couple 1st round studs would go a long way to keeping our window open longer.

We are way more players away than just Reece. Stay at 8 or better yet trade back and pick up an additional 1st round pick

People are talking about possibly only taking a 2nd round pick(I think it would take our 2 and 3) to move from 8 to 3. How far would we have to drop to get an additional 1st?

Daniel Jeremiah mock draft

quote:

3. New Orleans Saints
PROJECTED TRADE WITH CARDINALS If the Cardinals stay put at No. 3, I think Jeremiyah Love is the pick. If they are offered a 2027 first-round pick to trade down, that’s going to be a tough deal for them to pass on. So, they take it in this scenario. The Saints have made 25 draft trades since 2008. They traded up in all 25 instances. Assistant GM Jeff Ireland was with the Cowboys when they drafted Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware, so he’s aware of the difference an elite pass rusher can make. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley might be reminded of a player he’s coached at multiple spots in his career, 2016 first-round pick Leonard Floyd.

"25 trade ups" would include all rounds. Trading up in the 5th/ 6th has nothing to do with a 1st rd pick.

Average draft pick per round with 25 trade ups? Somewhere between #22-27

Trades after acquiring a Top 15 pick since 2008?
1/10
Sedrick Ellis (2008) Traded #10 for #7

Since 2009 (17 years) Saints have made all draft selections for players in the Top 15 (9) and only traded up to get in to the Top 15.

Based on the up/downvote of OP, you are right. It’s 2 up to 177 down at this point.

Is Reese even that good? Doesn’t even look like a nfl edge rusher. More an off ball LB who’s great off the blitz. Like a better Harold Perkins

The Saints think Shough is their guy, but just in case he’s not, they aren’t going to trade away their #1 pick in the supposed QB rich draft of 2027.

Loomis said this team isn’t one player away, and I fully expect them to stay at #8 and make their pick.
