Drew checked out of way too many runs. Same old Brees mistake, too trigger happy.

Sean’s too ready to unleash the pass after running all season. Same old Payton mistake that used to cost us games. Too pass happy and too cute.

What happens? We run 11 times even though it was working. No TOP and we get slow grinded for a loss by the falcons.

Say what you want, but Teddy is still in and we still go run heavy. And probably still win.

Drew and Sean blew this game. Not saying Teddy’s better than Drew but reality is reality.

We shouldve ran the ball 25 plus times. Wtf happened? I though Sean realized this in 2017 again, and we’ve been good since.

Edit: Im sure Sean realizes this and I bet we run the shite out the ball next game.

Sunday was bullshite and totally agree with your post. We need to come out against the bucs and stick to a balanced attack.

Wanna guess why the line got killed? They were firing off at the snap because they knew we weren't running the ball.

O line was getting killed pass blocking not run blocking.

Run plays were working smartass.

I’m not calling for Bridgewater to take back over because Brees is clearly a better qb, but we had a much more balanced offense when he was in. Payton called more runs which helped out teddy and it helps keep our defense fresh

The game planning for this game was a swing and a miss. They wanted 50+ on the falcons for the mantle and got tunnel vision. Not upset about it, they won't make the same mistake again.

There were other issues like Red Zone offense and OL blocking

But yes abandoning the run will only spell doom for this team. We need to lean on Murray and Kamara

Doesn’t TB have the best rush defense in the league statistically? Good luck with that.

I didn’t get to watch because I was at my sons soccer game but I looked at the post game stat line and said to myself “11 runs to 44 passes huh? Welp, there it is...”

I really thought Payton was past all that. How do you run only 11 times in a game that is 13-9 going in to the fourth?

I don’t think it’s about Teddy over Drew, it’s mors about Payton was focusing a lot more on the running game and controlling the time of possession when Teddy was in which appears to be a better style for this team. We went back to 2011 Saints football Sunday trying to light up the Dome and this team isn’t built like that. This is a tougher more physical group that thrives on wearing down the opposing defense and keeping our defense fresh to get to the passer and letting Morstead dictate field position. That’s what’s been working for us since the Seahawks game. That style will actually be beneficial to Brees as well at this stage in his career.

Well said. We also don’t have the personnel to play 2011 saints offense.

I am still pissed about the game, but nothing Atlanta had put on tape this season would have made Payton/Brees believe that we couldn't pass all over them. They were literally the worst pass defense with the lowest number of sacks all season, and they were missing their best cover corner. This game got away from us due to the line not holding up against a 4 man rush. If there was a team to air it out against, like we did against Tampa, this was that team. We simply did not execute.

I'd like to see us put Murray back in the swing of things and work Kamara around the field to keep the defense on it's heels. We were running around and thru people with Murray.

Drew doesn't have to go for the kill every play anymore for this team to win. Take it when it's there and when it's needed.

I’d rather us fail at airing it out now than in a more important game. SP and Brees need to realize that this team as currently constructed isn’t really capable of that on a consistent basis. Hopefully this game helps everyone refocus.

It’s not Teddy as much as the way Sean calls a game with Teddy at QB.

It’s something Sean has done over the years a few times a season and a lot during the 7-9 seasons. We actually have a good run game this year and we should be running it 22-28 times a game

It makes me wonder whether Kamara truly was 100%. On the other hand, didn’t we get stuffed at the line a couple of times? Our O line was not at its best.

Yup, 11 rushes will not cut it. And say what you want, but if ya’ll didnt notice Drew Brees checking into passes for a majority of the first half, you need to look closer. Ron Pitts even noticed it, (announcer/former db). Which tells me that the’falcons knew Drew was audibling out of runs into passes, cuz for one, thats been Drew’s tendency for years, until recently. Ron sure knew it. Falcons knew it too.

For all we know Payton couldve planned a run heavy script and Drew fricked it up. Get mad if you want. But its true, seemingly/potentially.

Kamara was pissed off. Ask yourself why? Has he ever been a malcontent before? Nope. Gladly shared the ball with Mark.

So why was Kamara so pissed then? And why were the announcers talking about sean paytons revelation about latavius murray thumping the defense and wearing them out, and we stopped running it all? My guess/hot take, is that those early murray runs were designed and it was supposed to be a run heavy script and as soon as the falcons took the lead Drew wanted to air it out. Thus Kamara gets 4 runs, etc. and looks pissed.

Hmmm. Dont get mad. Drew Brees is my hero. But Im just saying, this is my hot take/OP. Be mad if you want. But its not a far fetched scenario.

Better question is will Payton realize this and Brees?
