How much would Teddy cost us next year?

Let’s say Drew retires... and we decide to sign Teddy as at least a holdover until we get a young guy (or he could be the future?)
How much would he cost us? I think if we could get him for 15 it would be a solid deal and allow us to pay some of our free agents.

Probably 25-30 million, no less. That's just what starting QBs go for now.

I don’t think the optimism around Teddy is nearly as high as it was for QBs like Kirk Cousins. His value is what the market says it is. I think the fact that the QB draft class is so strong this year it will take a few competitors out of the market (maybe even the Saints). It’s only takes one team to offer him big money to drive the price up, but for a previously injured veteran with so-so game film I think the price may come down. I’d guess 15m.

Nick Foles just got 4 years 88mill
It would 100% be less than that

Just can't see less than 20 mil per.

Teddy is younger than Foles. Some team will fall in love with Teddy as THE QB, not the place holder QB.

If the market is $20 million per year, the saints won't (and shouldn't) sign him.

He'd be in the $20-25M range. Average price for a non-rookie deal QB:
Wilson - $35M
Roesthlisberger - $34M
Rodgers - $33.5M
Goff - $33.5M
Wentz - $32M
Ryan - $30M
Cousins - $28M
Brissett - $28M
Garoppolo - $27.5M
Stafford - $27M
Carr - $25M
Brees - $25M
Alex Smith - $23.5M
Brady - $23M
Flacco - $22.1M
Foles - $22M
Manning - $21M
Rivers - $20.8M
Newton - $20.8M
Dalton - $16M
Wilson - $35M
Roesthlisberger - $34M
Rodgers - $33.5M
Goff - $33.5M
Wentz - $32M
Ryan - $30M
Cousins - $28M
Brissett - $28M
Garoppolo - $27.5M
Stafford - $27M
Carr - $25M
Brees - $25M

Foles - $22M
Manning - $21M
Rivers - $20.8M
Newton - $20.8M
Dalton - $16M

Teddy could easily get north of 25 mil. Goff got 33 and his coach has to make reads for him. Brissett has accomplished jack shite and got 28 mil.

Brissett went 2 for $30mil.
So probably something between $15-20 per.

My wish list would have us signing TB to a 4-5 year deal with the first year very cap friendly (offset by signing bonus). His contract would be with the understanding that he would backup Brees one more year and then be handed the keys to the team. TB would have 3 full years in the offense and I think you would see improvement over what he displayed this year.
Payton has created a culture where players want to come here and those here want to stay. I just don't see the front office trading up to select one of the top rookie QB's. I don't care how good a rookie is, he will still have to deal with the transition from college to pros and learn the complex office that Payton runs.

IMO, If Drew Retires AND the Saints commit to him as the QB for the next, say 5 years or so They could get TB5 on a fair deal without letting some other team drive up the price. IMO TB5 wants to be here under SP's offense, he is obviously comfortable in the system, It's a placed he can be in competition for a championship for the remainder of his career as long as the Saints can navigate the salary cap. (and there's no reason to think they can't)
Any team coming in offering him a brinks truck full of gold bars not named New England is very likely to be a bottom feeder and likely a shite show like Miami where he will spend the rest of his career trying to get competitive again.
Frankly listening to TB5 talk he's matured well beyond his years throughout this injury and come back. He's about winning, but the Saints can't low ball him and expect him to stay. Some where 15-20mil IMO gets him to stay over a 20-25 mil deal to go get beat up and hope the shite show can turn around.
All this hinges on if the Saints believe in him enough to commit.

Drew is not retiring. However, I'm curious what Teddy does. He doesn't seem to be concerned about securing money. He loves our organization. He seems to value a good situation over a ton of money and just starting anywhere. I think he'll leave and go somewhere he feels is a good fit, even if it's not the biggest offer.

I would think 22+ million.

We have great talent everywhere and need to keep our window open, so it feels like drafting a rookie QB late in the 1st round and starting him day 1 is just punting away at the very least 1 year of our window.
What better options would there be than Teddy factoring in we won't be in rebuild mode?

Teddy is still young. Are we ruling out him taking another 1yr deal here? Could continue to learn under Payton/Brees and the team. Theoretically takes over around 28 with a team and scheme he has had plenty of time to learn.
Why rush to get paid one year sooner when you know you have it in waiting and saw great success here already?

Why? Nick Foles isn't that good.
