I believe Payton can do it, also, in Payton's defense, he did replace Simoneau with Vilma, and if we didn't have 2 CBs hurt, David wouldn't be playing either. So, he has tried to upgrade our weak positions whether you like him or not.

The payton hating is way too premature. Jesus Christ. let the season play out. This is the New Orleans Saints. 40 years of shite. 10-6, 7-9, and ?? is not bad and definitely not fire worthy

fricking plus 15. there is no reasoning with these payton haters.

How many of you truly believe that Sean Payton is the right coach to lead the Saints to a Super Bowl?

I do.

He's 3-4 this year with a large amount of injuries. At least we don't have a QB that smiles after he fumbles or throws a pick. We have a leader in Brees and will rarely not have a chance to win in a game.

Payton's offense and Brees' on-field skills are very exciting, we just need a decent defense to go along with it.

His record is no better than Hasletts at this point and Haslett never had Drew Brees.

Benson will soon regret that 5 year extension.

This is his FIRST HEAD COACHING JOB and he has a .500 or above .500 record as the coach through 2 + seasons as the coach of the New Orleans Saints. DO you know how rare that is?

didn't our last coach do that?

Well I think a lot has to do with the NFL nowadays compared to when Haslett took over...yes, the NFL has greatly improved over the last 4 years. I think the parity is better now than it was then.

that makes things easier for payton

The only really big flaw I see in him is the fact that he is loyal to "his guys."

same problem under haz

His play calling is right there, just not some of the other aspects that go into being a head coach.

like, defense?

Martz led his team to a Super Bowl and if Bellichek didnt use spygate he would have most likely won the SB

naw

if martz had started running late and not passing, they would have won. payton seems likely tp repeat this error

The jury is still out on Payton, but it aint lookin good. Starting to look like another Haslett. Still no consistancy in the third year and by the third year you can usually see where the program is headed. Will have to do something with that defense. And, if he's such a great offensive coach, then why has he surrounded one of the best QB's and receiving corps in the NFL with one of the worst offensive lines. The Saints would be a totally different team with a "New England Patriot" like offensive line. Payton and Loomis just don't seem to "Get It" in regards to building a great OL, either through free agency or the draft. They just don't get it......

his problem is his roster choices....the saints have one of the oldest rosters in the league...and while most people will throw the medical staff under the bus for the injuries, old age has more to do with our injuries....fujita, lake, hollis, glenn, karney, deuce, patten, campbell, MM,

payton preaches the right things like balance and meritocracy but he seldom obeys his own words...if so guys like david, stinchcomb, bullocks, shanle would be long gone.

we need overhaul at 3 units....Oline first and foremost...either install a new blocking scheme and coach that teaches run blocking---i can't remember one time this season seeing our OL going downfield or even to teh 2nd level and blocking guys..they bunch together and don't create holes.

2nd--defensive secondary...whole new approach to players and scheme...stop running a man scheme with short weak corners and slow unrangy safeties with terrible hands. run a zone. or acquire faster bigger bump and run guys who can tackle.

3rd athletes at lbs. we have smart guys here and they give it their all but you need kamikazes here...guys who make a hit and knock the ball out...guys who you are afraid of...guys who when they hit you you fall back not forward.

we are a finesse team
the coach looks like a fawn caught in headlights
throwing challenge flags as a way to compensate for preparation or adjustments...

Haslett did not experience the injuries that Payton has in his 3rd year. FWIW

Brooks without Horn and Deuce would of been even more of a disaster than it already was.

We need a D cordinater to go along with Payton. Kinda like Gruden has Kiffen

WTF is up with you Sainttards??? Are you seriously advocating that you want Haslett to be the coach again after he was run out of town? You people talk about Cowher coming to the Saints, but he didn't win a SB until his 13th year in the league. It takes time and perseverance. Give the man a chance to see what he can do with this team and let the season play out.

BTW, no coach is going to win with our pourus secondary. That needs to be fixed or we will be torn up every week. That can't be blamed on SP.

no

they're comparing payton to haz and showing that so far they have had similar reigns as saints HC

what was his playoff %?

how many AFC title games did he get to before that super bowl?

how many super bowls did he get to before he won it?

he's had 3 offseasons to fix it and all we've done is sign 3 backup-types (KK, david, gay) and draft porter

dude it's common knowledge. i believe we only needed 1 more win to go to the playoffs

it was a stupid fricking decision to start brooks those 3 games or so when his shoulder was fricked

haz just recently admitted the mistake himself
