No but I also think the Gap between Watson and Winston is a lot bigger than the Gap between Winston and the next best veteran QB available

If the Falcons were desperately trying to find a trade partner for Matt Ryan, wouldn't that have leaked out by now? You would think Schefter or Rappaport would have had a source from another team telling them the Falcons reached out to them about a Ryan offer. I haven't heard a peep about any of that.

In theory they could sweeten the pot with a trade partner to take some of the salary,
So trade all of their first and second round picks for Watson and then the rest to get rid of Ryan?
Recipe for winning. Rise Up

Yep
We need to face it. He’s an Atlanta guy. He’s friends with the QB coach. He grew up a falcon fan. He isn’t going to go to their divisional rival.
JMO but seems logical

any team who was considering trading for Matt Ryan would immediately lower their offer or pull out altogether knowing that they’d have to cut him to make room for Watson, and he would be cheaper on the open market. They’d lose all their leverage.
Except this is already the case. Every GM knows the Falcons’ position, they have no leverage to deal Ryan at all.

Not really. The moment that got reported, which would be immediately by someone like Underhill, any team who was considering trading for Matt Ryan would immediately lower their offer or pull out altogether knowing that they’d have to cut him to make room for Watson, and he would be cheaper on the open market. They’d lose all their leverage. It makes a lot of sense that they’d keep it hush for a few days to let them try to trade Ryan.
This is why the Saints should play a little hard ball and give Watson a deadline. Instead, they are sitting back waiting and allowing Atlanta to try to get a feasible package together to accommodate Watson. The Falcons would be fricked if the Saints gave a deadline and then pulled themselves out.

Jameis was a Payton player. There's nothing that leads me to believe that Allen values Jameis the way Payton did.

We are the best team in the division (or at least an argument could be made with Tampa) with a very legit QB.
Without one we are average. They know this.
IF they were doing this to frick us (which I do not concede in reality, but its fun to joke about)...they are hoping that one QB finally says "frick this" and the dominoes all fall, and we are left trying to trade up for a rookie QB in a weak QB draft.

Let's just say for instance that today or tomorrow...
Indy says, "F this", and they trade for Baker Mayfield.
That leads Winston to see his other prospect going away so he signs with Seattle, thinking he can outplay Drew Lock and not wanting to wait any longer. Which leads Carolina trading for Jimmy G because they are desperate for a QB.
Then what?

Do people realize if he chooses Atlanta that they will absolutely suck for years. They will gave to give at least 3 years if first round picks and a player or two up. They don’t have many players that are even considered NFL good. I think it sets them back rather then moves them forward. If they had Loomis then a I would worry, but their front office hasn’t proved that they can build a winner in years. Only thing the deal with Falcons does is get better draft picks for Texans . So if Watson wants to play for home team so be it. With or without him we will be better team then falcons for years. We are a QB whomever that ends up being away from being back in the running for Superbowls.

Think you’re looking at this from a passionate fan’s perspective. Not every fan hates rivals passionately. He very easily could’ve liked the falcons but also liked watching Drew play since he was a child. It’s a business now.

He can either join us, or get bitch-slapped by us 2x year...either way IDC

He's absolutely stalling for Atlanta.
1. He's giving them time to trade Ryan and ensuring they don't lose all leverage by saying he's going there already.
2. He hasn't eliminated the Saints because if the Falcons can't trade Ryan, we're his second choice.
frick that weirdo.

You said not all fans dislike teams from other cities. Or did I read that wrong?
