A+. Any other coach that had the same issues the Saints did this year would have been no where close to playoff contention going into the last game of the year.

This. The 2021 Saints are the Jacksonville Jaguars or Detroit Lions without Sean Payton's coaching & leadership.

I truly hope coach Payton stays in New Orleans for many more years. Top 5 coach in the league. His teams floor is no lower than 7 wins and the games are usually competitive.
That Miami game was lost because of variables outside the organization’s control. We win that game with JW and a full squad.
Post Drew Brees and this team should have made the playoffs. Who else loses an elite QB and goes deep into the playoffs the very next season ?
Looking forward to the draft.

A, He an amazing job with the hand he was dealt.

This may have been his finest season as a coach. Even when we won it all, he stubbornly refused to invest in the defense.
This year, he started 4 QBs, no MT, and lost most of his line, his star RB, his pro bowl return man, his 1st round pick, DO, DD56, (I could go on and on...) for long stretches in a division with the defending SB Champs and posted a winning season and within a whisker of s playoff berth.
Who else pulls that off?

This is a really hard one. He has done a masterful job in getting an incredibly depleted team ready to compete week after week. The injuries have just been consistent and extensive. But I feel like I’ve never seen him screw up as many clock management situations as this year. And I thought his play calling in several games (most particularly the Giants game) was really poor.

Depends on how much control he has of off-season moves. If not much I’d give him a B-. If he’s responsible for this receiver room C+/ C-

I'd give him an A-, simply because of the Giants game and the five game losing streak.
Can't dip below that. This team wins the NFC South and is the likely #1 seed with Jameis. Definite playoff team and maybe wins the South if you never dip below Taysom. Almost made it as a wildcard having to start Siemian multiple games (3rd team guy), once starting Book (4th team, should be a practice squad guy).
This, without having a legit NFL starter at WR all year (let alone Thomas), missing Kamara a bunch of games, and playing replacement kickers all season long.
They massacred the Packers, swept the Bucs and shut them out once.

A. It would have been an A+ if he had made the playoffs. One measuring stick. If Payton retired today, he would be coveted by any team looking for a coach. The national media yammers on about Dallas, Kansas City, Tampa, Baltimore, etc. with New Orleans no air time, but you see them consistently rating Payton behind Belichek.

Best Saints coach ever !!! Considering the previous coaches we had in the history of this organization.
The man got us a Super Bowl
After the hand he was dealt this season, he gave us a winning record.
I'm willing to bet most Viking, Bears, Miami, Broncos fans wish they had CSP .
Hell the Cowboys are in the playoffs and I hear some of their fans wanting CSP.
So far as I am concerned , he has earned my respect.

I think you're confusing the Saints with LSU...
Saints may draft a QB if the right guy is there.
Probably will draft a WR unless they pick up a decent FA.
May draft a CB, but not a big need. Lattimore is a stud and Adebo proved himself very well to be a well above-average CB2 and potentially develop into a #1. CJGJ is an elite S/CB slot defender,
Saints WILL NOT nor do they need to draft a kicker.
Saints WILL NOT draft a LB until 3rd/4th rounds unless incredible value.
My best guess is they view their needs as follows and will try to substantially rectify first in FA to keep their method of Best Available at draft time:
1) WR with #2/3 traits and potential -- Expect CGM back and ready to roll with good attitude.
2) OG/OT. Ruiz looks like a complete bust. Do they swap McCoy and Ruiz for the good of the team? Peat is a question mark; he is a fragile p*ssy and coming off significant injury instead of his usual "hurt vag so can't play. Armstead is likely gone unless he goes for a significant restructure, and is coming off yet ANOTHER season where he missed significant time because he's made of glass. I think this is a spot they will look to add 2-3 guys they view as starting/swingman-talent through FA, the draft or both.
3) QB position -- I think they "kick the tires" on acquiring ARod or Russ. I think they like Jameis if neither of those guys comes to fruition and stay put with him prior to the draft. Come draft time again I think they MAY take one if one they like is there at the right spot. Unlikely they trade up, but if Payton has an "unpopular" opinion that a guy is a much better prospect that most seem to have recognized, perhaps he pounces -- within the first 2 or 3 rounds.
4) Special Teams: Value FA &/or later round additions of depth at CB, RB, WR, S and OL. Special Teams has become a STRENGTH of this team since McMahon was finally canned, and I think Payton recognizes more than ever and certainly more than most just how valuable it is to be able to have a solid, quantifiable upper-hand in terms of field position thanks to superior ST play.
