re: Good with any pick at 8 but WR and Bain

No player that will be available at 8 is worth a top 10 pick most years. Not sure how people still don’t understand this

I dont feel like there is much difference between 1st and 2nd round WRs but there is a bigger drop between 1st and 2nd round S, CB, DE

But the news about Mauigoa's back, tells me that there is a strong possibility that we will see Mendoza go #1, then Love & 6 defenders from 2 - 7.

seeing the concerns about Downs & Delane in Staley's defense; there is a very good chance that the best available player could be a WR.
If its really Love + 6 defenders then going defense early is that much more important. What you described is a scenario where we go Bain and not WR. The only major concern for Bain is his arms and not injuries/ system fit. If Delane/ Downs/ Tyson have actual fit/ injury concerns and no one else is taking WR's then we probably take the dude who was a projected #1 pick for the first 8 months of the year.
We have honestly heard more smoke about 2nd rd WR's/ 1st rd defenders than local media/ FO talking up Tate/ Tyson or 2nd rd defenders. Could mean nothing though.

There were some measurements that got challenged. Bain chose to not get remeasured at his pro day. That's telling.

This is the most ridiculous comment I think I've read here.
Name one player outside of the 1st tier of players that you think would be a consensus top 10 pick most years.

Oh. You’re one of ‘those guys’
I’m so sick of this BS talking point. RBs and WRs aren’t even close to being the same caliber when we’re talking about a top ten pick vs a mid to late round guy. It’s an insane assertion and needs to stop

I'm not good with picking Downs or Bain. I would rather trade out if we had to select either of those two
I'm coming around on Tyson. I will be happy sticking and picking for Tate or Tyson (Styles not available). Otherwise, move back.

just watching our skill. players go out with injuries and being depleted the last few years is why I have pause on Tyson.
but I mean if he checks all the boxes medically then absolutely pick him if he's there.

List of just some #8 picks the last decade:
Christian McCaffery
Biijan Robinson
Drake London
Tet McMillan
TJ Hockenson

This is hardly what you said. You said most players there at 8 aren't worth a top 10 pick most years. Now you're saying any player in this draft at 8 isn't worth a top 10 pick

Both statements mean the exact same thing. I only re-phrased it because I assume he misinterpreted it, citing it as “the most ridiculous thing he’s read on here”.

This is such dangerous thinking and is ultimately why we have one of the worst WR rooms in the league.
Shough is the future. Give him as many weapons as possible and hope he continues to improve. No position is more important

There are four categories:
1. Want, won't be there.
2. Don't want, won't be there.
3. Want, will be there.
4. Don't want, will be there.
Player in there categories are.
1. Reese, Bailey, Styles
2. Mendoza
3. Delane, Downs
4. Love, Tate, Tyson, Bain, Mauigoa
If Styles for some reason falls to us, that's the pick. But anyone in categories 3 and 4 should make us better.
Here are my levels of excitement if we land these guys:
Styles
Delane, Downs
Bain, Love
Tate, Tyson, Mauigoa
1. Want, won't be there.
2. Don't want, won't be there.
3. Want, will be there.

Brazzell, Bernard, or Branch should be there for pick 2. I would very much like Brazzell or Bernard.
I'd rather a BPA in Rd 1 and a 2nd RD WR. Rather than Tate or Tyson in Rd 1 and BPA in Rd 2.

most just remember our brees years when he was a king maker at WR, you could get away with an average wr room
today's NFL, most of the better offenses have at least 2 high end WRs.
Unfortunately, the top 2 in this draft have some question marks for different reasons. Tate good production and tape but maybe a pretty limited ceiling but a high floor, he seems pretty unlikely to be a total flop.
Tyson not as much production but physically has all of the traits you want in a WR1.....but plenty of guys come in with that profile and never put it all together.
I lean tyson but whiffing on him would sting pretty bad.
