i'm guessing ILB there, which is weird

he's a coverage LB who has lost a step...he's never been one to mix it up in the trash

I will always have a warm spot for Fujita because he was the first free agent to sign with us for the year after Katrina. He took a chance with the saints and was rewarded with a superbowl. I will always be thankful for him for signing with us.

that said, the olb position was goign to be upgraded this year anyway. this was his last time to get a big pay day and a starting job (which would not have been guaranteed with the saints). i'm sorry he is gone, but he will not be hard to replace.

good luck with the browns, scott!

Yeah, weird decision for him, must have definitely been a money issue, oh well, I think he hit his prime already, and I definitely don't see him doing any better in a 3-4 as previously mentioned

That's what one of the Browns sites was reporting.

Cant blame him. He got the ring now its time to get the cash.

R U serious? Leave the Saints to go to a bottom feeder? In freezing cold Cleveland of all places. It doesn't matter how much he makes, HE WILL REGRET THIS DAY FOREVER! He is a good man and knows the consequences of GREED.

What a moron, obviously he has enough money to donate 82 large to charity, why leave and go where YOU KNOW FOR SURE you will lose!

Thank you for your service big man, you will have buyers remorse when you wake up tomorrow.

I look at it this way: if he is as bad as so many think, why does the coaching staff frequently give him the most difficult job on the field

he's playing the game to set his family up to be comfortable for the rest of their lives. We also don't even know if the saints were offering him a contract.

put the crack pipe down.

Fujita is replaceable. I have no doubts about this. We have Vilma for that leadership, esp. around the ilnebackers, and if Sharper stays, we've still got the coach on the field for the secondary.

I'm still extremely optimistic.

First off thanks scott for everything!!!

Now I love Fujita as a leader and a person but come on everyone ,he has been average at best this year and is 30+ in age. What do you want our front office to do, keep this team together forever because they were part of our first Super Bowl. Come on , a team either gets better or they get worse but they never stay the same. This decision to let Fujita go was part of us getting better as a team. Even though its tough to see a guy go, this will be an upgrade!!!Good luck Scott and good move by the Saints!!

Fujita isn't exactly coming off of a couple of big contracts. He's probably getting and extra $4-5m over the next three years with the Browns than he would with the Saints. It will probably be the last three years he spends in the NFL, and you may very well see him move his family back down here and enjoy an enviably long retirement.

And it's not like Brees didn't do EXACTLY what Fujita is doing now in 2006. And you're assuming he even GOT an offer from the Saints. They may have gone into this offseason planning on getting younr at the SAM and were happy for him to sign elsewhere so they can make some moves in FA at other positions.

I'm happy for Scott. He's a stand-up guy and he played a huge role in the Saints turn around. I'm glad for him that he got the big pay day, and I'm glad for the Saints as well; the more he got, the more the Saints can spend on replacing him.

I guess this is the point in the road that we have to come out of the feel good times of winning and come back down to earth. Its all business in the end. I honestly thought though that Fujita and his family would have been the last ones out the door. I gotta say - this one hurts for me. Kinda similar to lossing Deuce. Best of luck to Scott and his family - I hope he comes back after he retires - after all, home is where the heart is!

whoa, losing Fujita this way and losing Deuce are two completely different situations.

Hold your horses on that one.

Don't be surprised if the Fujita family stays in New Orleans while Daddy goes to Cleveland for a few months out of the year.
