Our o-line is far superior than Houston. He can have success here.

Except he fell off in Arizona when he wasn't getting to 4 ypc and the Cards had two other backs getting over 5.

He’s washed. Put me down for Justin Jackson also if we have to sign a rb.

Put me down for anyone besides David fricking Johnson and Justin Jackson.

I'm more worried about the O-line though to be honest.

The value tank of RBs over the past 20 years is kind of shocking. Short life span. Even the elites peak usually are no more than 4-5 years.

I was never an athlete but I'd have to imagine it'd be at the bottom of my desired positions to play if I was looking for a professional career in football.

We only need him for 4-6 weeks likely for Kamara's suspension, hopefully he can still have a little magic left for that short period
would be a miracle if he could stay healthy for 6 weeks

He’s not here to be the number 1 back. Ingram would still be the number 1 back when Kamara is out. He could fill that role fine.

It’s very frustrating that the NFL waits so long to hand out suspensions. It makes it hard for teams to prepare for. I wish the NFL would just make the decision so the Saints could prepare accordingly.

Kind of feel like saints are just doing homework right now and aren’t looking to sign anyone unless they don’t like what they see in camp or injuries. Just getting the leg work out of the way.

Idk....i feel like if teams used the old Saints committee model even with the good back...the lifespan would be of course longer. Thats something elite backs would have to decide on. You wanna be a high usage back? Or play longer?

He can catch but it isn’t like he is a mismatch out of the back field. Not sure I would even call him a receiving back. He is more of a plodder at this point in his career. He just doesn’t have the juice any more since his injury

Well his injury was a wrist

His problem was he was an old prospect who already had 1000+ touches in college. Couple that with 500+ touches his first two seasons before the wrist, and you have a high mileage back without much gas left in the tank.

Yeah I probably didn’t word that well. I was more so trying to say he hasn’t been the same since before his injury but not necessarily bc of his injury itself.

Injury prone RB
Not much left in the tank
Avg. < 4 yards a carry for years now (one 4.7 year in Houston)
Probably need him to be an every down starter for more than six weeks
Definitely can't stay healthy for six weeks in a row
Probably wants too much money

There are better backs out there for cheaper than what D. Johnson is wanting. Don't overpay for a name that was good 5 years ago.

Kamara's court date being pushed to August means he might be able to play at the start of next season. I'm OK with them waiting as long as they want to hand out Kamara's punishment. It's sounding like they're going to go with Ingram until Kamara comes back from his impending suspension.

Saints did recently sign undrafted rookie Abram Smith and Devine Ozigbo, an undrafted back in his fourth season.
WHO DAT???

The NFL is waiting for the hearing/trial Kamara has in August. You can blame the NFL for a lot, but they are waiting for more information plus due process to play out.

Not sure what he wants now but his last contract with the Texans for one year was worth almost $5 million after all the bonuses.
