For people saying the Saints panicked, Payton is gushing over the pick

Seeing dumb takes like “Saints didn’t have a plan once they couldn’t trade up.” Some quote from Payton makes it obvious that their BPA board isn’t the one we use.
quote:
Payton: "We felt this player was in a different category. We felt this guy was in a different ballpark with his traits, his makeup, his skill set that was different."
quote:
Payton says they saw a tremendous upside relative to the position with Turner. "He'll play and earn those reps his first year. We'll have a clear vision for his role."
quote:
Sean Payton: It's hard to find those players, guys who can rush the passer, guys who have that stature.

Yeah, but what does Sean know? I'll trust the guys here

Give him credit for gushing over the pick so convincingly after furiously trying to trade up for higher rated players all night.

“Furiously trying”

Seems like he said the same thing about Davenport 3 years ago and boy was he wrong

Because people didn't want to trade down that far with them.

Nobody will address this here

Look on the bright side. If he is as good as Davenport, they only used one 1st round pick on him. If he is not as good as Davenport, they had him graded higher than all of the other DEs left on the board.

Payton is just gushing over the pick because Payton was in the guy's name.

They were def trying.
Doesn't mean they don't love the player they got.
Only time will tell.
I think it is throwing people off cause he isn't just a twitchy rusher.
Dude has bend for his size and power. Seems like he needs nielsen to help him with some moves.
At least he is angry and loves football

Only thing to dislike about the player is the different injury issues he's had. Lots to like about the prospect.

Have people actually claimed that Payton “panicked”? Please tell me you are joking or provide quotes. I really need to see someone post this before actually replying.

After watching his interview after the draft, hes totally a Saints pick.
Very mature for his age

Eh. He’ll be ok. Solid starter but not a world beater. He’s got size but he’s pretty average after his initial burst off the line.

Can he play? I’m glad he can answer an interview, but can he play in the NFL?

He’s “gushed” over al his picks. God damn it why must he try and find every diamond in the rough?

And exactly how much of that hyped up, trying to trade up talk that Loomis was putting out there was meant to psyche out other GM's into reaching for picks that they thought we were targeting? We got the guy that CSP wanted. Let's wait to pass fricking judgment until after the dude fricking plays a down for us. Tonight was all about mental games that Loomis and Payton were playing on other teams. I'm not ecstatic about the pick, but at the same time we could've done WAY worse, so I'm content.

You just made all that up. They def tried to move into the top 10. The broncos were one team that told them no
