Based on pff, the organization has done an excellent job of building a roster. Not that you should just take their word for it. The clear needs I see are OL/WR/LB based on contracts and production.

Biggest misses to me are the Peat/Ruiz first round guard combo and the Roby trade

I know a lot was on Kamara’s plate this year, but he had too many zero or negative yardage carries. He has to get better at putting his head down and getting 2-3 yards. I feel like he dances at the line looking for holes to develop too often and he also slow plays his sweeps too often.

It stands out when you compare him to a back like Joe Mixon, who has patience when necessary, but also will hit the hell out of a slither of a hole instead of waiting around for a bigger one. I compare him to Joe Mixon, bc Cincy’s o line is a disaster and he still figures out a way to make something out of nothing on nearly every play.

The only game I saw AK approach with this mentality was the last game against Atlanta.

They really have. We're right on course & right where we need to be. Just need to trust that CSP & Loomis will make the right decisions on getting under the cap.

WR & OL are the 2 things that need to be addressed on our offense. Need a legit #2 next to Mike Thomas...to go along with Callaway & Harris. I'd like to upgrade the TE position, but we might be ok here if we fix the WR position.

Ramczyk, McCoy, & Hurst can be counted on imo. Peat is going to be here in 2022, so hopefully he has a good year. Ruiz has to earn that starting RG spot as well. We REALLY need to add some legit competition to the OG position imo.

Still not sure about Armstead...

I don’t know if its identification of guys, development or scheme, but the Saints do a great job of bringing in productive defensive linemen to rotate in every year. Guys like Tuttle, etc.

I wouldn’t call the Roby trade a miss. Nobody had any idea Adebo would be good enough this soon to play. Roby would have been great as our number 2. That situation was a win win. We added depth that did help at times and we hit a home run on a later draft pick

The oline and WR group are such obvious needs. Besides Hurst there is no one I'm confident in either short term or long term along the oline. And the WR group needs a major infusion of talent. I like our depth at almost all the other positions except perhaps TE which is the easiest to fill in FA.

It was not worse than Cincy’s and Kamara’s PFF grade is not an accident, when grading backs they take into account the blocking. Kamara did not have a good season running the football. I watched 17 games of Cincy with a terrible o line and Mixon was far superior at making something out of nothing.

I like Kamara. We all do, but what’s the point if we can’t be honest about things here? We can’t just pick and choose the PFF grades to trust. They are all graded under the same condition. Did they do their assignment? Did they read their blocks? Did they get every yard an average back should get in a similar situation? Kamara did not this year and as a result we were looking at 3rd and 9 all year instead of 3rd and 4.

Nice job, GM. This season was all about injuries, but none loomed so large as the absence of Armstead and Ramczyk on the offensive line. With that said, I hope the Saints are able to resign Armstead to a friendly deal emphasizing incentives for staying on the field; however, I still expect another OT (who can also play guard) drafted within the first two rounds. And, if there was ever a year to draft a WR in the first round, this is the one. A difference maker can be found at number 18, even if the top four wideouts are already off the board.

Pete Werner turned into a wonderful draft pick, and Kaden Ellis proved to be solid as a back up, especially against the run. Adebo will only get better, and you are correct about PJ Williams is a much better player within the hybrid role.

Nick Vannett was much more athletic than I expected, and it's a shame he was hurt most of the season. Troutman seemed to regress a bit, but he did look better just before his injury and afterward. Juwan Johnson and Lil Jordan Humphrey both took steps forward, especially as big targets over the middle, and they needed more action in the red zone. Playing Kenny Stills - no matter the role sought - was a mistake. Vaya con Dios.

Overall, the depth was better than I expected following the offseason purge to escape CAP hell. Kudos to Loomis et al for putting together a competitive squad that not many teams would have wanted to face in the postseason - especially Tampa Bay. Too many injuries and COVID protocol absences affected the uncertainty of the QB position in addition to the OL woes. And, never depend on the Rams and Matthew Stafford for help making the playoffs.

Joe Mixon is a solid all-round running back; however, he was playing against defenses that had to account for three better receivers and a better tight end than anything the Saints put on the field last season, as well as a quarterback in Joe Burrow, who can create reception opportunities in tight windows as well as make any throw on the field. What might Alvin Kamara have done at running back in that offense, rather than being THE player keyed upon every single play by the entire defense?

The Saints were 9-4 with Kamara and 0-4 without him.

Umm theres a guy named Ryan Ramczyk. I’ve heard he may be “Okay” at RT but well have to wait until he makes his 4th All-Pro team to decide I suppose huh??

I guess by that math Siemian is a starting caliber QB.

QB room was stacked, not sure how we missed the playoffs

For a third string QB, we were lucky to have Trevor Siemian. He played well in the first Tampa Bay win and last game against Atlanta. Had our offensive line been healthy, we may have won more games with him under center in the games he started.
