His dreams are your dreams it seems.

What else would the GOAT say...he sucks at QB lol

I never had dreams of starting at QB in the NFL, so that was just a nonsensical remark.

Why would Brees tarnish his legacy by talking at length like he has about how highly he thought of Taysom's QB ability? It wasn't as though he just made a passing comment about it. Brees has done interviews and made unprompted social media posts supporting the idea that Taysom "would have been a really good quarterback in this league for a long time if he had been given the opportunity." Reading the room, one could tell that he was obviously very solid behind the idea.
There are levels to this.

It was obvious to anyone paying attention that Taysom dreamed of being a starting QB in the NFL. He was the ultimate team player though and everyone described him in that way. He did what was asked of him and didn't cause waves. That was part of his greatness.

Drew Brees, someone who knows a thing or two about playing QB, said that the Saints should have committed to Taysom as a QB earlier and given him the opportunity to have the offense built around him.

Loved Taysom on the team but let’s not act like he didn’t get a fair shot at starting QB

I think "fair" is a bit relative here. You simply can't give a guy one offseason & training camp in nine years to fully focus on playing QB (the most difficult position in all of football) and claim to have done a good job at trying to develop him for that role. But it wasn't in the Saints' best interest to be fair to Taysom in that way. It was in the team's best interest to be good/great at developing him as the Swiss Army Knife, having him spread out his time and development among numerous positions.
So Jameis wasn't a QB either then? Because he had a slightly better TD:INT ratio, but worse career completion % (61.1), worse avg yards per play (7.6), and a worse passer rating (86.3) than Hill.

The circumstances of 2021 did Taysom no favors. He injured his throwing hand in his first start (vs. Dallas) and was throwing to the likes of Marquez Callaway, Deonte Harty, & Lil'Jordan Humphrey.
When Taysom was healthy and had a legit #1 WR (M. Thomas) to throw to the year before, he had a 72% completion rate in his starts.

Additionally, you can't not factor in rushing stats for a running QB. Taysom easily averaged over 50 yards on the ground (to go along with 6 total rushing TDs) for his full-game starts.
As OC for the Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles, Kellen Moore had a great offensive line and Saquon Barkley in the backfield. The Saints signed guard David Edwards to complete what should be a very good offensive line. If Moore thinks Love is his next Barkley, I could see him wanting to move up to get him.
Screen pass to Pierre Thomas...such a thing of beauty.

I way overrated Fluffy

Fluffy is good. He shouldn't have been as big of a favorite over Sean as he was though.

“had”, not has.

His intangibles were abysmal.

Everyone knows this around the league, he’s done.

Reports were that both Cincy and Indy reached out to him last year after their starters went down with injuries. Kellen Mond said that the Vikings wanted Carr back in 2023, so if there is any smoke to Minnesota looking at him now, it would make sense.

Down 27-3 to Minnesota with 5 minutes in the 3rd before Jameis threw a touchdown

Winston had an RTG of 57.4 in relief duty that year, more than 20 points lower than his second lowest RTG of his career. You think maybe the offensive problems had something to do with the head coach running the show and an OC who didn't really want to be there and had lost his ingenuity for designing and calling plays?

for the games he was targeted much less this year and the offense is different.

Lawrence targeted him as much this season as last. The thing is though that Mac Jones peppered him with double-digit targets every game down the stretch last year after Lawrence got put on IR.
I think some people really don't like him as a person (which is their right to feel that way) and that influences their opinion of him as a player. His first year here, the Saints tied for first in the division, but lost the tiebreaker and missed the playoffs. That 9-8 record included Carr leaving the Green Bay game (a loss) up by three scores and an easy TD drop by Foster Moreau that would have (very likely) sent the home game against the Jaguars into OT. All that with the team being guided by Dennis Allen, whom I am sure we all feel the same about in regard to his head coaching ability.

There is no doubt that he has starting NFL QB talent. Whether or not there will be a marriage between him and a good enough team at this point who thinks enough of his overall makeup (talent, age, leadership, etc.) remains to be seen.

He got this team to .500 last year when he started with no receivers and Dennis Allen as the coach. That’s quite a feat.

Carr was saddled with horrible defenses while in Oakland. He darned near turned Hunter Renfrow into Michael Thomas in 2021 though on route to making the playoffs.

He probably will play, but there is certainly a rational argument to be made in regard to Shough and the team for why he should sit.

They aren’t going to take away his shot at ROTY

Carolina plays tomorrow. If Tetairoa McMillan has a big game (and he very well may with Jamel Dean out for Tampa), then I think the ROTY award possibility for Shough should become less of a factor in favor of sitting him to keep him healthy (as well as for tanking for an easier schedule next season).

From the meme thread on the Politics board

That would have been interesting if Mason Graham would have fallen to #9 in that scenario.
The then 3-12 Raiders travelled halfway across the country through two time zones, walked off the plane 12 hours before kickoff, and proved themselves superior to this Saints team. The Bucs could play with their eyes closed and still probably cover the spread.

He will have one or two WTF throws or miss a wide open WR once a game.

Elite QBs do that, too. I was watching the KC vs. BUF game and Romo made a "He'd like to have that one back" type comment at least a couple times regarding the QB play.
