We missed the playoffs bc we lost 2 ridiculous games (Giants and Falcons), and Taysom was not available to start immediately after Winston went down. Trevor struggled quarters 1-3. Say what you will about Taysom, but he’s a winner. If he’s available in the 4 games Trevor had to start we go 3-1 or 2-2 at worst during that stretch.

Oh and the Rams are Gay.

Could Peat be a post June 1 cap casualty?

A post June 1st release or trade frees up around $10.8 million of cap space. Saints are going to have the 2023 cap hit of $9.2 million regardless.

I stand corrected. I'd actually be ok with that.

10.8 mil is a lot to save

I thought that's what I saw when I checked a few days ago which is why I initially asked. Wanted to make sure I saw that correctly.

We have to clear about 70 mil...

10.8 mil (Peat) + 10.1 mil (Roby) - 20.9 mil

That would be a solid start

I'm sure you will have a thread soon breaking down how Loomis can get there with releases, extensions, restructures & with which contracts.

I don’t know if its identification of guys, development or scheme, but the Saints do a great job of bringing in productive defensive linemen to rotate in every year. Guys like Tuttle, etc.

I really think it's Ireland & his scouts' evaluation, Nielsen might be the best D-Line coach in the league, & Allen's scheme is simple yet very effective.

Our D-Line has been absurd over the last couple of years and easily top 3 in the league when relatively healthy.

I give Nielsen the most credit though. There was no way in hell CSP was going to let LSU poach him.

We lost Hendrickson, Malcom Brown, & Rankins this past off-season. Nielsen just plugged in unproven players & kept truckin.

Don't you have to clear the $$ before season starts; post-june 1 won't count right?

Either way:
Restructure Lattimore - 18mil
Restructure CGM - 10mil
Restructure Cam - 9mil
Restructure AK - 9mil
Trading Roby - 10mil

That gets us to about needing to clear 7.5mil, extensions and some more reworking can get us there

I give a lot of credit to Nielsen. D line has been great under him from top to bottom.

It was not worse than Cincy’s and Kamara’s PFF grade is not an accident, when grading backs they take into account the blocking. Kamara did not have a good season running the football. I watched 17 games of Cincy with a terrible o line and Mixon was far superior at making something out of nothing.

I like Kamara. We all do, but what’s the point if we can’t be honest about things here? We can’t just pick and choose the PFF grades to trust. They are all graded under the same condition. Did they do their assignment? Did they read their blocks? Did they get every yard an average back should get in a similar situation? Kamara did not this year and as a result we were looking at 3rd and 9 all year instead of 3rd and 4.

Actually our o lines were probably graded about the same overall. Throckmorton who played all year was in the 40's.

Armstead and ram were out half the year. Peat was gone basically all year. Mccoy missed what, 5 games? Ruiz was horrible. Throckmorton was horrible.

You have to take account of joe burrow and those receivers. That helps mixon out a bunch.

Kamara definitely had a down year running the ball but you have to account for the offense as a whole.

We really had no offensive threats at receiver.

Are you realltly trying to say kamara was responsible for 2nd and 9 instead of 2nd and 4 consistently?
