I have always been sky high on Nielsen but the DL fell apart last year and was garbage this year.

Fact is, we have exactly 1 viable defensive lineman on the team right now. He bears some of that responsibility.

I’d rather lose him than Richard

He's a good coach.

Nielsen was smart to jump.

I mean he is moving up to an actual dc rila knowing that allencould be gone after next season.

Smith and Allen could be gone next season. I think it's the right move for RN bc it's a full DC job, but it's hardly like he's jumping to a much more stable position

You can't make someone love football.

Davenport has always come across as that guy.

Does he get any credit for granderson?
Trey hendrickson maybe?

Onyemata was a great player under him. Look at all the guys he coached in college that are in the league.

Payton turner reminds me of the nfl version of jaxon hayrs. Seems very immature. Also, he didn't draft these guys

Davenports biggest issue besides health is he doesn’t play with any technique. That’s coaching.

I guess? He’s an ok rotational player.

Yes.

For a time, now he’s not good.

I know. That’s why I said he bears some responsibility. He’s a good coach but I’d argue he’s been our 3rd best defensive coach the last 2 seasons behind Richard and Hodges. He’s not irreplaceable.

I want to say the Lions game in particular. Cam Jordan Batted one up picked it off in the endzone.

Off topic but that game was extremely bizarre even for Saints standards. We scored 3 defensive TDs (2 of which were in the Lions own end zone), forced like 6 turnovers, and still nearly blew a 35 point lead because the Lions also kept scoring on D and special teams

We should have locked him up by making him the DC. Another huge mistake.

Payton prevented him from coming to LSU. Now the current group lets him go to our main rival.

Not good.

His position group underachieved the most of any on the team and most importantly he was gonna get fired with the rest of the staff after next season, hopefully.

So the Falcs don't have enough juice to steal a proven DC from another franchise, so, they steal a DL line coach/Co-DC from the only team that they REALLY hate?

They are rolling the dice here, but, I don't blame the coach for taking the promotion.

That’s not really a very high bar, is it?

I didn’t like the Allen hire from the jump, said it a few times, but when he announced that co defensive coordinator crap after he took over I knew he was in over his head again. I said this exact thing in one of the off-season threads. It never works.

Think that’s only if he’s black. B/c the nfl is racist. Like wtf. They didn’t want to hire Richard and help us get a pick.

Saints choose the dumbass HC with the retard look on the sideline and the pussy introverted OC as extensions of the Payton era but not the best coach on the staff. Sounds about right for this organization.

Guess I'll be making fun of the Saints until I'm 6ft. under. I expect another 40 years of mediocrity. Going to design me a nice brown paper bag Aints helmet to wear in the dome.

Makes it even worse that we let the only coach above that bar go to a rival….

Nielsen is not behind richard. Just because the front office drafted two knuckleheads in the first at de doesn't mean he can't coach.

Richard couldn't even get a job for awhile. Onyemata actually had a decent year. Granderson was undrafted and is now at minimum a very good rotaional guy. Saints will re-sign him this offseason.
