Do they have an out on cousins deal? I didn’t think the move to draft him was bad at all if they really liked him. Kinda seemed like they were bidding against themselves on cousins.

This has to be one of the dumbest threads I’ve read on here and that’s really saying something. Let’s see the moves Fontenot was responsible for. Arthur Smith(21-30 career record), Kyle Pitts over Chase, Raheem Morris (29-45 career record), signs a 36 year old coming off a torn Achilles to 150 million dollars, and some falcons fans criticize them for taking a rb over Jalen Carter but, you can debate the last one if you’d like. Read the start of the moves he’s made and you actually crested this thread for all to see. My God!

We have to see, only time will tell. But, list our last 10 drafts, and see whose front office sucks. I know we had one good draft, but the rest were horrible

They wouldn't have been able to get Pennix without signing a starting caliber QB. Or else, it would've been too obvious in the draft that Atlanta needed a QB. Pennix then wouldn't have fallen to them. Someone would've traded up in front of them. So, in a way, it was covert.

What? Pennix was projected late 1st possibly early second round.

Penix will be a poor man’s Aaron Brooks.

The only thing I give ATL credit for is realizing it was a mistake to sign Cousins making the decision to get rid of him.

The Saints are still trying to hammer that square peg into the round hole.

Looking at spotrac & OTC and it appears the out isn't until 2026. His 2025 salary is fully guaranteed, so outside of a trade, moving him puts a major hit on their cap. He would go from a $40M cap hit to $65M cap hit. Unless Kirk becomes some sort of malcontent, why not let him be the veteran in the room for 2025, then release him after the 2025 season and minimize the cap hit all at once. Now you have a reliable veteran backup for your "young" QB's first year as the starter.

If Kirk really pushes the issue, you try to move him for a late pick to put that guarantee salary on the next team or you have him renegotiate his deal to make the cut palatable

What do comparing draft histories have to do with whether or not Penix will be a great QB based on the NYG game?

Also, why discuss the last 10 years when Fontenot has only been with the team for 4 years?

Go look at the falcons last handful of drafts. And people want to criticize ours. My lord.

What does he frown after interceptions instead of smiling?

Piece of shite that Loomis is.

One Super Bowl win and several NFC championship games. Without some bad refereeing and defensive play calls the Saints could have made it to at least 3 Super Bowls under Payton/Loomis.

that signed cousins for all that money. Now what

He has a $65M cap figure which they could spread out if the move him after June 1. Not ideal but not the end of the world. They gave themselves 2 chances to hit, if one works it was worth it.

Carr’s five wins have came against teams with a combined 24-51 record. If not for the Bresee blocked FG he would’ve went to OT vs the Giants
