I think it's his wife decision. He will be in Los Angeles soon as a broadcaster.

It does make me wonder if it's because of his new wife.

He just married last year?

PFT has never gotten a single saints report right. Payton has drug them over and over on their fake reporting

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter There are many things Sean Payton could do this year; coaching an NFL team is unlikely to be one. He remains under contract to New Orleans for three more seasons. He wants some time to decompress, and the Saints would want compensation if they ever were to relinquish his rights.

So if he’s going to Dallas they’re gonna have to pony up some serious compensation.

Absolutely. Unless McCarthy gets them to the SB, he’s done there.

Hope Dallas is willing to cough up 3 1st round picks

Whatever the price is it will be chump change for Jerry

Three first rounders is not chump change for any owner.

ETA: Is Jerry willing to pay the ultimate price, relinquishing control of the team to his head coach? His history with Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson indicate that price is too steep for him.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that good coaches don’t want to coach under Jerry. Jerry is the guy who gives the injury report. He’s the guy who gives the weekly update. The players can bypass the coach and go straight to the owner. It’s a terribly ran franchise. Payton may coach again and it may not be for the saints. But it won’t be for the cowboys.

That You believe this is sad.

Payton will coach Cowboys within 2 years if he doesn't break the bank on tv.

And he still may just further out if he does.

Whats even sadder is that we won't get proper compensation because our gm and owner will defer out of gratitude.

Nah. Especially not when it involves another NFC team. I certainly hope not. No reason not to get max value for him.

The Cowboys would have to give the Saints a pile of draft picks for the Saints to let him go within the NFC

Jerry: "We want Sean"

Loomis: "Ricky Williams trade and you got a deal"

Jerry: Hangs up

Problem solved
