Having SEC teams do well is better for LSU because in the end LSU gets to the national title game based on people's vote. It always helps to be playing in the SEC because they are the best conference. It helps LSU to keep it that way.
On the other hand, the NFL has a playoff. You win and you keep on going. It really doesn't matter what you're divisional teams do because it really has no impact on you. So #### the Falcons.

Simple as this: A strong SEC helps recruiting and the tougher our everyday opponents appear to be helps us with voting/polls. The NFL is not like this.

COMPLETELY different set of circumstances from college to pro.

This isn't kiddie football son. You want to hold hands and sing songs by the campfire, keep watching school ball. This game is for big boys.

The Saints' post season success does not depend on their "division" being perceived as the best in professional football. One more reason why the NFL Playoffs >>> the BCS.
In the NFL, it's OK to hate your enemies.

Apples and oranges. If there was a playoff system in CFB, then the SEC "thing" would quickly go away. Under the BCS system, it is helpful that your conference is perceived as strong. Nothing similar in the NFL.
In other words, FalCANTS.

Fixed that for you.
It is not about respect for a division. It is about a CHAMPIONSHIP.
We have won one. They have not. Period.

The only thing I can see is that college fb is based a lot on opinions and you need your conference to look strong in order to get benefit of the doubt on rankings, bowls, etc.
This and this is the only reason.
The Saints do not benefit from the Falcons winning the Superbowl. The SEC benefits from having five straight BCS champions.
It's really not hard to undrstand

Do Saints fans take no pride in their division? Do Saints fans not want their division to be perceived as the best in the NFL? Why does the hate not transform into love and affection come the postseason? Why were we all not Falcons yesterday?
i don't root for the SEC. This is fricking stupid though. NCAA football has polls that are controlled by perception. If the perception is the SEC is the best, that benefits LSU if we are in competition with a team from a different conference for the NC.
The NFL has a playoff system

frick the Falcons!!!! If the OP doesn't understand the difference between college football & professional football then he needs to stop watching football altogether.
There's no way me or any fellow diehard Who Dat's would ever root for that garbage team from Atlanta. There is NO advantage in division or conference supremency in the NFL. The playoff system decides who is best & not a bunch of writers, coaches or computers.

I will never root for the Failclowns in any game. They are the scum of the earth. Also, falcons were not rooting for the saints so your post is pointless.

The obvious difference is that the NFL has a playoff and college does not. In college it's to your team's advantage to play in the percieved toughest conference. In the NFL you are what your records says you are - weakest division or not.

no it wouldn't. a playoff would use the same "BCS" standings used now to pick teams, with polls factored in
in pro football there is the strength of victory and strength of schedule tiebreakers, but those almost never come up

There's also a regional pride thing with college football. Most of the players in college are from their home state or at least their region. This especially true for SEC teams. So when an SEC plays an OOC team there's a south vs the midwest, west coast, etc angle to the game4. In the NFL the players on any given team are from all parts of the country. There's no southern pride in Atlanta, Jax or Tampa beating a Chicago, NY, etc
