Meh. I certainly prefer Jameis back. But with this draft class and all the teams looking for QBs, teams will do way worse than Jameis or Garoppolo and I hope we aren’t one of them.

Another thing people need to consider. Dennis Allen is a defensive guy, we have a pretty good defense, maybe he wants to continue the defensive route and is just looking for his trent difler, not a special quarterback, uses the run game, tries to minimize mistakes and rely on the defense.

How many superbowls did we win with Brees breaking records and throwing for over 5,000 yards with a shite defense?

Kittle and Deebo YAC was the only reason he appeared to be a serviceable QB. His air yards were 7 and YAC were 6.1. 9ers team ranked #8 in YAC with the Saints second the last. 30 yards kept them from being dead last. We have slant man and then a huge dropoff.

There’s a reason he is being allowed to walk

Yeah, because they invested 3 1sts into a project QB instead of just staying put at their original spot and taking Mac Jones which would have worked out for them immediately.

Now they have to move on from Jimmy in order to capitalize on Trey's rookie contract while simultaneously restructuring Bosa and Samuel. Had they drafted Mac they could have moved on from Jimmy last season.

That said, there are a lot of QBs the 49ers could have had that aren't taking them to a SB and NFC title game in a 3 year span.

SF had arguably the most dynamic / balanced/ schemed offense in the league.

Very physical and talented te/wr/rbs.

Awesome playcalling.

And Jimmy G was probably the weak link.
He would undoubtedly do worse here than he did at SF.

If he was a FA I’d say meh.
Trading a decent pick and/or player for him would be a garbage move.

No fricking way you sign him over Jamie’s. He is way too injury prone. This was Jameis’ first big injury in his career. I believe he had a separated shoulder in Tampa that kept him out about 4-6 games but that’s all.

Reality check? What about my post implied I was talking about fantasy. Dude was subpar as a real life qb. Not a fantasy one.

He was the absolute weak link in that offense. He 100 percent held them back.

I truly hope this is a leak by the Saints to help drive Jameis asking price down.

Jameis > Jimmy G

The Saints will target Winston. I'm sure they've already started some kind of negotiation. He knows the Offense and was on track for about 33 tds. and maybe 14 ints. with a terrible crew of receivers. If Winston hasn't taken that next step as franchise Q.B. by the end of next season there is a much better class of QBs in next years draft. Just a weak class of F.A. and College QBs this year not named Rogers or Wilson.

You're talking about numbers. Nobody gives a frick about numbers. I want to know about wins.

What's SF record without Jimmy the last couple of years my guy?

I guess if it came down to Jimmy G. or Jameis, what is the difference? Kind of don't love, kind of don't hate. Is "meh" really where we want to be at QB?

And that's just the point of so many of these threads. Based on what's available, the team is going to just have to get bye at the QB position until they find/develop there next guy. Until then, just need to find that middle of the road guy that can just get you along. To me, this is why Winston is the best option available, because you don't have to give up assets to have him part of your team. You can then use those assets to build the foundation around him until you are able to find your guy.
