How did he play Monday night? I don’t recall seeing him much which is usually a good thing for a DB. Fuller had a pretty quiet night. Latt and PJ were getting abused so maybe they just kept going back to the well?

He gave up a few including a 50+ yarder to Fuller. But, I don't think we saw much if him because they ran so much zone.

We played a ton of zone, which is not Apple's strength at all. He's a very good press-man corner according to PFF, so naturally Allen has them play zone and off coverage quite often.

He didn't play well he's better than pj Williams but still not good. This is the saints biggest weakness we need better corners. Lattimore is good the rest can not cover nfl wideouts. The announcers where even pointing out the gameplan was to pick on Eli and PJ.

We had secondary lapses, especially at the end, but we gave up less than 300 yards passing against a great QB and one of the better receiving groups in the NFL. They will get their timing down and play better as a group.

Dennis Allen, being the genius he is primarily called zone coverage when we have a ton of man cover corners. This is almost as stupid as signing Jason David (a zone cover corner only) to play in our Man coverage system.

Allen really is a POS as a DC.

That big fuller catch had a 15% catch probability. It was good coverage

Apple still hasn’t given up a TD as a saint

Watson under threw him terribly and late. Eli was beat off the line

Still a hell of a catch though

His coverage was decent... but his outside contain was awful. Fully whiffed one tackle and dove at Johnson's ankles at least twice allowing a first down instead of just shoving him out of bounds.

ETA:

Was also obviously late as over-the top support on one of those 30+ yard completions on of those final 2 Houston TD drives.

Eli and PJ are not All Pro but they're adequate, at least Apple is. PJ is really hit or miss.

But people bitching about them need to realize you can't have elite talent at every position. They're average NFL starters IMO.

It's not like the days of trotting out Browner or David.

I still have nightmares about that. I think we opened the season with the vs his old team the Colts and he got burned every game from there on.

Apple had a great game; and the big pass to fuller was on Marcus Williams and not apple

I thought Apple & Lattimore looked pretty damn solid. Much better than most of this board is giving them credit for.

Apple looked bad because Williams blew the coverage but otherwise looked great. Lattimore played Hopkins arguably as good as possible

Fred Thomas and Alex Molden as our #1 corners were awful to watch.
