The crazy thing is, a big percentage of the people he “offended” doesn’t accept his apology anyway, and the people who thought he said nothing wrong are disappointed that he apologized. (Of course, there’s no rioting from that crowd). So in trying to please everyone, he’s pleasing very few.
Having said that, I’m convinced he apologized to protect his family. People are crazy, and you never know what some lunatic would do.
Update: just read Brittany Brees’ comments, which proves that protecting his family is indeed the reason Drew apologized. Apparently they received death threats.

Brees shouldn't have apologized. He should have stayed the course of what the flag meant to him. His older relatives that fought/died for their county in World Wars is the very act of bravery that allows people to protest. He should not be condoned for it.
Now if he wants to say he shouldn't have made the comment that no one should kneel, and you kneel if it means something different to you, then I would understand, but to cave in like he did due to peer pressure is not right either. We can still respect the flag for the men who died for this country and still be a part of the movement to help injustice against black people by police. I don't think there is a person in America that doesn't believe the cop that killed Mr. Floyd shouldn't pay for his racist acts, but that doesn't mean I believe we should be kneeling during the nation anthem or when the flag is presented.

Drew quit on Drew. Drew quit on Critical Thinking and the entire concept of America- that explicit rejects the concept of COLLECTIVE GUILT in our most basic Founding Documents. I feel bad for him because I know the toll that reputation destruction takes first hand, but he chose to capitulate to The Mob rather than educate Them.
