I am just waiting for him to wash the feet of opposing black players before every game, and to kiss a little arse South Park Johnny Cochran style.

Just what would you have Brees do?

I'd have him act like a man and restate his opinion that he does not agree with a certain form of protest. It doesn't even matter if I share his opinion or not. It's about the fact that he backed down from something that was 100% within the realm of mainstream thought. It just sucks to see people you respect be cowed like that. He allowed himself to be shouted down by the mob.

Exactly. You all should be ashamed, he donates millions to charity, is a legit great person. But because of how he expressed his political and social ideals out loud isn't ideal for you you treat him like trash.

Anyone who would treat a good man like Brees with contempt for how he wants to talk about his viewpoint is undeserving of the sacrafices made by our troops. And that was true two weeks ago and it is true today.

If you asked our grandfathers that put their lives on the line for our country or our God that asks to care for one another, "hey there are these athletes that do great things in the community, but voice a different opinion than me in the public sphere, should I treat them with comtempt?" What do you think they would tell you?

I love Drew Brees but he was an utter coward and the ripples of his cowardice on this issue extend beyond his own personal circumstances. The people who are upset with Drew over this won't threaten his family or future livelihood though, unlike the group he completely caved to.

Brees can never make enough amends. The more he bends in their direction the more they will demand of him. He was foolish to compromise his "principles" . He should have stood his ground and not bent his knee.

I am a 73 year old man , not only a grandfather, but a great grandfather , a 'Nam combat vet and I whole heartedly agree. There are plenty of times to protest other than the playing of the National Anthem. Those sorry mother frickers kneeling just need a little seasoning. I would love to have had some of their whining asses in the foxhole next to me .Then they could protest their service. They possibly would have a different feeling about kneeling then .The 1st time i see kneeling i am going to pull the plug. Maybe there won't be a season & they can hit the streets to join their brethren in burning & looting & throwing bricks , & demanding the police be defunded (PURGE). Let the good times roll.

I hope Brees ends up bankrupt. He’s a pussy who was broken by the mob and doesn’t deserve anyone’s respect. He has the reverse Midas touch now.

I went to my first Saints game in Tulane Stadium. I have had Season Tickets since the early 90s. I don't know if it will change but as of now I don't give a flip about the team

This is so dumb.

This board has gone the way of the PoliBoard into the land of the ridiculous.

You’re honestly turning your back on Brees over this? Some of y’all are more political than anything else.

Let people have their opinions. Who cares? Why does everyone have to agree? This is like Leftist snowflake garbage, but from the Right.

I’ve been saying for years, it’s just two sides of the same coin. The same people who like to call liberals “snowflakes” and laugh at them for getting triggered have been having mental breakdowns since this Brees stuff started.

At the end of the day, Brees is doing some good things right now, and look how angry these people are. The verbal abuse he is taking now is way worse than it was from the other side, who mostly just said his comments were tone deaf.

It’s pretty common now to come on here and see nasty comments about his wife. This board is an embarrassment now.

The truth is, these idiots aren’t mad because Brees changed his stance, which he never really even did. They are mad cause someone they thought was one of them is now openly and specifically helping black people.

Jesus Christ, dude. Drew had an opinion and was pistol whipped over it and is still apologizing.

bullshite. This isn’t what happened. You morons being too stupid to understand why Brees was called out is a huge issue when trying to have discussions to make things better.

This is like when Trump convinced you all that Kaepernick was protesting against and disrespecting the military. This is like when Trump brainwashed you all into believing that anything negative said about him was “fake news”.

it was a respectful statement

No it wasn’t. Again, people like you have no understanding of what the issue was with what he said.

because he said he didn't agree with kneeling

Nope, not why he got called out.

quote:

I understand why he apologized but I don't agree with it and have lost a little respect for him

So your respect for him was purely about you thinking he was 100% on your side politically?

quote:

You know he didn't in 24 hours change his feelings on kneeling

Right, because this isn’t what happened. No one ever told Brees, or any white player, or any black player for that matter, that they had to kneel.

Maybe Brees realized that coming off like a tone deaf a-hole who believed his views were the only correct views was not how he wanted to come off. Maybe Brees realized that kneeling wasn’t about the military, and that people who were kneeling also had family members who fought in wars.

People keep going off on shite that they clearly don’t have all the information about, and probably don’t want the real information so they can keep being angry and full of hate.

Drew Brees’s statement included his grandparents, veterans (of all races), current military (of all races), where we’ve come since the 1960’s civil rights, and how much further we still need to go. Sounds like a very all- inclusive statement to me.

I’m sorry but the militant blacks that had a problem with that statement would have had a problem with anything that didn’t bow down to their cultural Marxist agenda.

In the long run; when that culture that slammed Drew Brees is still stuck where they are another 60 years from now, Drew Brees and his family will have the last laugh.

You won the battle; but you won’t win the war.

So is your opinion more meaningful than the military man who advised Kaepernick to kneel? Your opinion is based on your personal beliefs and has nothing to do with your military service.

Thank you for your service, but being in the military doesn’t make your personal or political beliefs any more right or wrong than mine. Just like being a cop doesn’t give them the right to kill people any time they are in an uncomfortable situation.

People on the right like to claim how important God, and family, and military is to them. It’s all a lie. The truth is being a far right Republican is by far the most important thing. That hatred all of you share is a tighter bond than anything else in your lives. Politics in general are the main dividing line in this country more than anything else.
