Don't pay Kamara the market value. He will never live up to it.

Ezekiel Elliott — Dallas Cowboys.
Todd Gurley — Los Angeles Rams
Le'Veon Bell — New York Jets.
David Johnson — Arizona Cardinals
Devonta Freeman — Atlanta Falcons

Here's the 5 highest paid running backs and they aren't worth it. None of them will finish out their bloated contracts. If Kamara demands to be paid top 5, then we should try to get as much value as possible. Running backs are too fragile to command a large portion of the cap.

I have nothing against Kamara. It wasn't his best season. I think he'll bounce back next year, but I just can't see how you rationalize paying a RB so much money. Everybody has regretted it.

If we pay him top dollar, I want him playing slot receiver 75% of the time.

Especially in this offense you can find a playmaker in the 3rd Round just like we found Kamara.

RB is never a good place to spend a lot of money. There are just too many cheap options. The Saints are not in a cap space position to give him a big contract.

Bell and Freeman never deserved those contracts. Gurley not so if they knew his knee was failing.

Elliott and Johnson did, and Elliott played well with it. Johnson has had injury issues, which is why he never lived up to it.

Bad contracts to players that don't deserve it is not a good comparison. Kamara is a unique talent that fits perfectly for what Payton needs, and it took us 11 years to finally find him. It's not like we have been able to just plug and play RBs into this role.

No you don't overpay him, but you also don't let him walk based on bad contracts of overrated players elsewhere. That's myopic

We did pretty okay with our RB committee in the late 00s early 2010s.

The Saints will pay AK top dollar, IMHO, because they don't always make the best player personnel decisions.

If AK were an NE Patriot, Belichick would not pay him top dollar. He would not take the risk.

Love the guy but it would make sense to explore trade options.

All of this. This is why I am wanting them to trade Kamara and get what they can. Avoiding paying that huge salary. Then draft CEH who can be a feature back in the Saints offense. You get him on a rookie contract for 4-5 years.

I told y’all this before this season as justification of why we should pay MT whatever he wants, and everyone here pitched a fit. I love Kamara, but he won’t be worth paying what he’ll demand.

Locking down Latt and Ram should be priorities 1 & 2 above all else (although I do have my reservations about Latt continuing to earn it, but what are you gonna do? A lockdown corner is hard to come by).

Sean Payton will be able to turn any decent RB into a production machine in his offense. I promise you.

Trade kamara and draft clyde, he's gonna demand a ton and he may get it but I hope it is somewhere else. We are about to lose our greatest qb in saints history to retirement if not this year next. We will need to dump a ton of money into a qb we got MT locker up for the next guy

First we get rid of Brees, then Kamara. Roll with taysom hill and UDFA RBs. Shoulda kept Boston Scott amirite. Sounds like a formula for winning

leads all NFL backs over the past three years in yards per route run, yards after the catch, yards after contact on receptions, forced missed tackles on receptions and receptions of 15-plus yards. 250 touches, 1500 yards. Easy enough to replace

And lol at thinking the Patriots do it right. The blew a 1 on Sony Michel and gave nearly $20 mil guaranteed to him, Rex frickin burkead and james white.

everyone with common sense ought to adopt that philosophy. But need to apply that philosophy to Brees too. Brees is not taking this team anywhere and never was the last few years. Brees keeps the team relevant and butts in the seats to some degree, but he's just holding the team back ultimately. This team needs a 10 year plan instead of a year to year plan.
