If I could make my dream defense by position groups, then I would pick 07 (or 08?) Giants DL, Saints Dome Patrol LBs (1991?), and the Seahawks Legion of Boom (2012?) for DBs.

Purple people eaters honorable mention.

Any Linebacker group all-time you’d take over the Dome Patrol?

No. Any NFL historian would pick the the Dome Patrol

The 70s Steelers or LT with the Giants are not far behind.

I had their LB group in the 90’s with Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene, and Levon Kirkland higher

You have to describe like to like. If you're using 4 LBs, then you're basically including 1-2 edge guys.

Take, say, the Tampa Bay off-ball LBs, Derrick Brooks and Hardy Nickerson. They are better that the comparable 2 off-ball LBs from the Dome Patrol, but they don't get to include Simeon Rice to compare to Ricky Jackson.

Although the 2000 Ravens with Lewis, Sharper, and Boulware may compete on its own against the Dome Patrol.

Using a 4-man unit, I don't know anyone outside of Nola who would take the Dome Patrol over the mid-90s Steelers unit (Levon Kirkland, Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd and Chad Brown)

I can't compare a unit from antiquity (like the original Steel Curtain), so it's hard enough to compare to the Dome Patrol.

I have no idea who these guys are, but they look like they put out some bangers in the 80s.

Edit: how did I not know that Morten Andersen and Brian Hansen were also a pop duo? That's legendary.

Hard to compare some of the modern defenses, but Patrick Willis, Navorro Bowman, Ahmad Brooks and Parys Harrelson were a terror to play against for a stretch there in SF

Didn't they have Aldon Smith one year or two?

Heck, that style is starting to make come back right now, I've seen people or men I should say wearing short shorts like this here. ?? If you live long enough you see things like this retro fashion revived.

That front 7 was the most dominant I think I’ve ever seen.

You couldn’t run the ball. And it could get pressure on you out of its base formation almost at will.

The defensive backfield was another story.

So thankful I got to grow up watching the Dome Patrol. Still the best that's ever been! Sam Mills was the man.

The Giants of the same era had Banks, Reasons, Carson and Taylor. Pretty close overall but I've gotta give the Giants the nod mostly due to LT. Younger guys just can't understand what a dominant force he was. Greatest player in NFL history and thrived in the biggest moments.

I actually think that the 2009 offensive line was full of studs-

gaurds - C. Nicks/ J. Evans
tackles - J. Bushrod/ J. Stinchcomb
center - J. Goodwin

That Morton and Brian album brings back some memories!

I had a family member, middle aged aunt no pics, in the 80s totally befriend the Brian guy. So much so that he’d show up at family gatherings and hang out with the kids and mingle.

Now that I see that pic (I barely remembered what he looked like), I’m totally convinced he was cougar hunting said aunt! No other reason that guy would show up to family dinners because he was a nice guy.
