Apparently the refs don't know the rules either. The Cardinals did the same fake punt, against the Buccaneers on 11/10, and a PI was called.

It was a terrible call.

Would’ve rathered just kicked a 60 yard FG or trot Brees out there and try to get PI on a bomb

If Payton had any faith that the Refs would apply the Defensive Holding rule correctly, then I would say that his faith was grossly misplaced.

He should know by now to NOT rely on the Refs to call a game accurately. The NFL proves on every play of every game that they DO NOT apply their own rules accurately.

The Refs start every Saints game with the notion that the Saints are on the NFL shite List.

So, in summary, CSP should not be calling plays, Dennis Allen should be fired and Kamara should be released
Is that the Board consensus?
How about this? We were beaten on a given Sunday by arguably the best team in the NFC. West. That’s about it.

how do you take the leap from what I said to this? Its OK to be critical. I'm normally one of Payton's biggest defenders on days like yesterday but I can't defend some of those decisions.

The Saints are the only team in the NFL that has to design a complete gameplan anticipating every possible scenario whereby the refs can screw us.

At some point it borders on the ridiculous.

Running a fake hoping for a call is a bad plan. It was just a shitty fake.
Here's what I don't get, why throw the streak down field like that?

The entire point is the dude "guarding" the gunner does not know it's a fake, right?

So the last thing the 49ers dude would be expecting is for the gunner to slow down or break off his route. If he just ran 15-20 yards then stopped he would have been wide the F open.

No it didn’t. If SF needed 7 at the end they could have easily gotten it. Defense shite the bed at the end like they normally do

Because our coaching staff didn’t know the rule and they were probably relying on PI as much as a completed pass.

You could argue it's not a punter receiving the snap so it should negate the flag

That's why you are not the coach of the most powerful offense on the face of the earth! No, you are just part of a loser thought process! Everyone was shock and if weren't for the holding everyone would say it was brilliant call!

Yeah, you what every coach to act like you....sheep! What a loser!

Originally I would have said no, but Sean was calling for a hold pretty immediately. So I’ll say yes, they knew PI wasn’t on the table but holding was. The rule is so stupid.

You prep the refs for the call if that’s the plan.

“Listen - I know you can’t call PI but if he holds its a flag” during pregame warmups is 100% fair game.

You don’t surprise the refs and hope he calls an obscure rarely used rule properly in real time

No one was shock, by the fake, when they saw Taysom back to punt.

It’s not a punt if you don’t punt the ball.

The rule needs to be changed. Max kellerman (barf) was absolutely right about this.
