Williams would have gone high and midsection and lit the frick out of that Viking in the 80's and 90's.

The fact he felt he was forced to go low because of Goodell and fear of penalty from even approaching the head...

This is your NFL.

DB's diving at players' don't dislodge any ball. NObody from high school to College would ask for this... it's only the demands of the NFL. How come college has good tacklers but they become crap once they get to the NFL?

There is something to be said that the rule changes have affected timid tackling styles that have opened up the passing game. Jack Tatum and Ronnie Lott...tear that head off and end the game and no penalty is called - because it's football.

Williams just seemed so timid and afraid of getting a penalty to light someone up or PI - which is called every other pass.

Don't think so bro. Even if he waits for him to land then just wraps up the game is over.

He mistimed the play. He needed to slow down, then grab the WR when the Wr caught the ball. Throw him to the ground, game over.
He went low to avoid being called for PI. Saints need to work on his timing.
He could have let the WR catch the ball, then wrap him up and throw him on the ground.

no, dennis allens fricked up soft zone scheme did it and they totally screwed up the coverage leaving one guy covering 2 receivers so the guy was wide open.

that wasnt even marcus' responsibility, but he tried to save the team by making a play out of position and he had bad timing, closed way too fast, which meant he couldnt stop without causing PI penalty, so he took a dive to avoid the free yardage there by penalty.

practices are dulled down.

That has something to do with it for sure yet I'll bet things won't change.

they already have and its for the worse.

After seeing it again this morning it looked like he was trying to go low and cut him off from the sideline. From his angle, had he just hit him there was a high likelihood that he would have driven him dangerously close to the side line giving him a chance to get out of bounds with 1-2 seconds left. Just poor all around execution.

The rule of PI being a spot fould did, as well as the 7 points in the first half. 15 yard penalty after he lights him up and they're still out of FG range with one untimed down. If Williams hits him early, it's PI and they kick the game-winning FG from there. Which is what they were hoping for.

its not the rules its the way the refs call the games. refs put a royal fricking on the saints in the first half. I am convinced that if he had touched diggs the flags would have flew everywhere.
