Watson in Cleveland suffered a setback that may cost him the entirety of 25. the Browns are morons enough that a trade could be worked out to ship Carr to them.
No trade clause, Carr would have to want/agree to go to Clev. Then he'd probably do what he did to LV, agree to go there, then demand to be cut

Those designated post 6/01 cuts don't help the cap now.
ah gotcha. i thought two could be designated for post june 1st and help with the deadline. can cut as many as you want after june for post june 1st benefits. that's why i thought the designation actually meant something.
we have to restructure carr if post june 1st designations don't actually mean anything.
eta: i'm pretty sure we can use two post june 1st designations to get under the cap, hence "designation". can cut anyone post june 1st and it isn't a "designation".

i'm sure his family will somehow survive. i've been a carr apologist since he got here, but that guy can take his "charismatic" preaching bs and his soft arse the hell outta new orleans.

It statements like the “on tape comment “ that no matter how hard I try I can’t root for this undertaker looking retard .
You don’t need to say that . Excellence doesn’t need to be pumped up by the people responsible for it. Everyone knows. Sounds like many try hard douches I sat through meetings with and disappeared when the meeting was adjourned.
He knows he doesn’t fit in. That’s why he brought up talking to Gayle . He’s trying to garner support by implying she wants him to stay.
Eat the money and get him away from airline drive .

Don't fault him one bit for demanding the money that Loomis said he would give him.
frick Mickey Loomis tho.

Id be okay with cutting Carr and taking our lumps next year but I doubt the widow would
Posted on 1/7/25 at 3:00 pm to BowDownToLSU
We were the Clowns that overpaid him--ala Mickey. Let him go. If he stays with our easy schedule he'll stay beat up the crap teams on our easy schedule, and get another sissy injury to sit on the sidelines when there are injuries. He will just ruin our draft position like our great 14-13 miracle win over the crappy Giants

Good thing we restructured him and moved out all his money further tying the saints hands in more years.

Can't stand how this fan base has turned on Brees. It's absolutely insane to me.
We always loved his on field results, just hated how lame he was in regards to shitty endorsements, his cowardice and his failure post retirement. Also Jimmy Johns sucks.
Not that anyone blames him but he got out of NO pretty quick as well.

While the Saints do stand to lose a significant # of season ticket holders, the fact that 75% + of NFL revenues are derived from TV contracts. Gayle/Lauscha/Loomis CONTINUE to ride off into the sunset with mega-millions and don't really concern themselves that much w/ us lowly ticket buyers, i.e. look for a ticket price increase for the 26 season and they will do so w/o a second thought...lol

Carr knows he’s got a good thing; he ain’t about to give that up.
Posted on 1/7/25 at 3:44 pm to gsmith5651
I’d like Loomis to answer one question “ What exactly did you see in Carr to give him that contract?” Carr isn’t the worst quarterback and he doesn’t have a lot of help but I don’t think even if he had the players around him, he still couldn’t win a playoff game

that mother fricker is delusional if he thinks his "tape" is good.... my god, the arrogance...
look, i'm all for a dude getting his earnings, but he ain't worth $40 million...

Yep another idiotic clause Loomis agreed to in that contract when there were maybe 1 or 2 other teams only willing to give him a phone call

Carr's play is worth exactly what his average annual salary is, which is 17th as another posted commented. He's been exactly that, average. I'm not hating or celebrating, I do not blame him for not taking a pay cut (neither would I), but his current abilities & injuries are not good enough to overcome this roster & team in 2025. Pragmatic approach is cut bait now. He probably also knows this, and might be why he's putting this out there so he can get cut & try with another team instead of sticking around for "soft rebuild" over the next 3 years when he'll be in his late 30s.
Carr's "with what I put on tape" comment probably is more of backhanded shot at Rattler & Haener compared to their tape, W-L record, and TD-INT ratio. Relatively speaking, I cannot argue against it.
Roll with Rattler if no other veteran FA QB makes sense for the money. Let new HC & OC build the team around Rattler, but at the same time have a plan in case there is a QB in the draft they feel strongly about. Again this current version of Carr is not getting us into the post season with this team, so cut bait now & see what you have in Rattler and other younger players with a full offseason as starter.
I love Drew, but nobody should be white-knighting him about his contracts either. He was absolutely lucky to get his first 6yr/$60M contract from us, literally no other team offered him anything. If it wasn't for us he would have gotten like a 1yr/$6M prove it deal. Now he absolutely outplayed that contract! But he also absolutely squeezed every dollar he could out of all of his subsequent contracts which did handi-cap the team around him, no denying that, but there's also no denying that he was paid properly comparative to market value for those next contracts. The last 3 years were just similar to Carr now, he's still good, just not good enough to overcome shortfalls of this team.
People please stop chalking up Brady taking contract far less than max value because he had a rich wife, nobody thinks like that especially celebrities. Brady chose to do that because he wanted to fricking win & that was the best way to field a good team around him! And it worked 7 times! Plus you see they're divorced now, doubt it was complete shock to him or anybody else that either one of them would have cheated on each other. Rich, attractive celebrities do it all the time, it's their way.

That would be the most idiotic thing you could do. A new coach 7 years? I wouldn’t give Sean Payton 7 years
Ordinarily I agree. This rebuild with our cap is unprecedented.
You can get a retread or an Aaron Glenn for a 5 year deal, but coaches in demand will want much more rope given how dire the roster is and the time needed to rebuild.
Mediocre coach for 5 or a coach many want for more years and $.
