Having the #1 rush defense in today's NFL isn't as impressive as it used to be. It's a passing league.

So why isn't everyone doing it?

So did we until we went conservative.

What's your opinion of the rams defense?

I think he's doing a decent enough job. It's nearly impossible to completely shut down teams in today's NFL. Our schedule hasn't really been a cakewalk either. Last four teams we beat are all playoff contenders with the Rams being a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

It can't be ignored that Dennis Allen made Todd Gurley almost a non factor running or catching the ball. The guy has been on a tear this year and this defense held him under 100 yards rushing and 11 yards receiving. I don't care how many yards Goff threw for. They did an outstanding job containing at critical times a very balanced high scoring offense that dictated the flow in just about every game they've played in so far.

If Dennis Allen was a student he'd be a "C" student. I mean he's passing but he's not someone you'd brag about to other parents.

So Brees gives the Saints a 21 point lead late in the 1st half and Rams tie the game up in the 4th qtr.......and you call that doing an incredible job?

Define incredible please.

You realize the offense didn’t help at all in pursuit of the Rams comeback? Saints went conservative and disadvantaged the defense who initially only allowed 2 field goals and a touchdown off of multiple 3&outs by us in the second half.

News Flash....the Saints run D is so good because most teams pass AT WILL on the defense, nobody really runs the ball.

Meh, aside from a couple of bursts, Gurley was bottled up

Incredible is a bit of a stretch, but this run defense is no fluke. This team is doing a good job at forcing teams to move away from the run with sound run defense and an offense that keeps pressure on opposing teams while keeping pass plays in front of them. The coverage still needs to tighten up and as apple comes along I believe it will. All around this defense is playing to the teams strengths game in and game out.

Yeah actually having the first overall run defense is why we won today. Nobody has come close to shutting down gurley. So I’ll give him props. We need to fix some things on the back end but we don’t win today without an excellent run defense.

Also Davenport coming along is huge and when he’s back that pass rush will get a huge boost.

I agree with everything you said, but no coordinator who is in the bottom 5 of total defense is doing an incredible job. That said, this defense has strangely risen to the occasion when it matters the most, and as long as the offense is humming along, we should be okay.

Lol Holy cherry pick. So the offense didn't give the defense help by scoring 35 points in the first half? An 18 point lead going into the 2H? GTFO with this take. The defensive coverage was horrifying. Two of the Rams TDs were off complete and total busted plays. Despite the Saints having a big advantage in TOP, the Rams still tied it up indicating the defense kept allowing quick scores.

It's hilarious that you'd even attempt to point a finger at an offense than scored 45 points on the previous best team in the NFL.

This may be true to some extent but please give credit where it is due. The Rams have an incredible running game this year and the Saints' run defense stifled it. Our run D is legit.

And our secondary still needs help.. PJ Williams is not the answer.

It’s not a cherry pick cheese dick. The defense helped get that 18 point lead as well. If the Rams were the

best team in the NFL.
then you should be wise enough to know a 21 point lead at the half meant next to nothing. In the NFL today, the offense has to keep their foot on the pedal. The 3rd quarter was nothing but punts for us, giving the ball to an offense who has obliterated almost every defense.

exactly and i bet a large portion of our good run defense stats are because the other teams are forced to play catch up from way behind and give up trying to run.

we have an average "at best" defense and most times it would be much better if we had better coaching

Nice bump. The playcalling on the last drive of the game for Carolina after the fumble made me hard. No prevent bullshite, he came right after cam and hit him hard. Defense ended the game on their terms.

I mean, incredible might be a strong word; but the defense wouldn't be humming the way it is without solid coaching.
This thread is starting to look prescient.
