That’s absolutely laughable. If any team gives him that then let them have him. That’s a 4 year $93 million dollar contract for a guy who everyone openly knows doesn’t really love football that much on top of being injured all the time. The shitty part is he’s really fricking good when he does play but we can’t pay that and climb out of cap hell. Start Granderson and pay Kaden Elliss instead. He’s Demario Davis’ successor with Werner. Draft Davenport’s real replacement when you see a guy that is safe and projectable to the NFL like Cam was. Everyone knew from day one he was going to be a good player versus taking guys like Davenport and Turner because of their size/speed and not their actual production.

That’s nuts. And at that price tag, fans shouldn’t even care if he turns into. HoF somewhere else. His lack of availability and what he’s done so far on the field over 5 years does not justify that price tag

Somebody better put it in his contract he has to play and be available to make that kind of money. 23 million to play 6-8 games isn’t gonna cut it. In saying that, good look in your future endeavors

I doubt he actually gets that but there will be a team that pays him a Hendrickson type deal 4 years $60 mil or $15 mil a year. I still wouldn’t pay him that. We have to find places to get cheap talent and DE is one. We can sign Granderson for a team friendly deal that still pays him good money and you know at worst you have a really good #3 DE and can start games for you until you find the next Cam Jordan or Will Smith type.

It would be great if all contracts worked that way. Say you are injured you get 50% pay rate and the difference is put back on the salary cap.

Unfortunately the NFLPA has fixed that.

Rule #1 if a Player is on the roster for Game 1 of the NFL season then their whole season salary is guaranteed.

If a player isn't on the roster for Game 1 then he is not protected and any team can poach him.

Another terrible move by Saints not offloading a guy for max value. Now someone else will overpay for him instead of getting the Saints compensation for him. I wouldn't be surprised if they do something stupid and try to find cap space to resign him.

When should they have offloaded him? I suppose this season, but he was having his worst season. Why would they sell low?

Guy can’t stay healthy, was constantly hurt throughout the season guaranteeing he’ll fail a physical; who do you think was trading for him? Best option may have been for him to hit the open market and hope the team doesn’t over spend on FAs and try to get a comp pick

Yeah I’d let him walk for a lot less than that. Exactly what we don’t need is millions of cap space not on the field contributing.

Didn't have to be this season. Could've been any other year. he's injured every fking year. Someone would be stupid enough to trade for him and give decent compensation. One reason Patriots stayed good under Brady was they did exactly this. Get great production out of player, trade them when they lived past their value and they always seemed to bank on it.

Regardless of what he is paid and if we can afford it…. This will inevitably be Trey Hendrickson melt downs all over again after he is gone.

He’s not getting anything close to that. If he does I laugh to the bank with the 3rd comp pick we get.
