Cut Carr(Contract was a huge mistake bu Doomis)

From what I’ve read about the salary cap situation, as much as everyone would love to cut the motherf*cker, from a pure salary cap consideration, it’s best to hang onto him for one more year and then cut him.

Basically, just make him sit the bench and collect $25+ million for the next year.

The Saints f*cked up signing him. There’s no use in compounding their incompetency.

If he agrees to a pay cut, not a restructure perhaps.

Moore would’ve loved to use Taysom in his prime.

Most correct statement in your post, which negates everything else. Should’ve just posted these 4 words.

Is it possible to trade or cut Hill if he isn’t able to pass a physical?

Fwiw.

You can't get 10M in savings unless he's a post June 1 cut.

No trade clauses really don’t matter much.

Derek Carr is due 40mil in 2025. If the Saint cut him he’s only guaranteed 10mil from the saints and whatever he can get in the open market.

What team is paying him 30mil for a 1 year deal?

If the saints find a trade partner for him and they are willing to pick up 20 of his 40 mil and the saints find pick up the other 20. They go the Carr and say you can make 40 mil next season or 10 plus likely and 1 year 10 to 15 mil for 25 mil.

You choosing 40 mil or 25 mil?

In that scenario, the Saints would count ~40M of this year's cap to Carr instead of the expected ~50M.

You'd end up having to restructure just about everyone else anyway.

Crazy opinion…. Taysom will retire a Saint this offseason. He’s banged up and at 34 I doubt he’s got much left in the tank.

Yea. that's what we've been talking about for months. If they want to move on from Carr it's possible but it comes at a cost.

If they don't want to eat his salary and admit the mistake they restructure him and have his contract on the cap she at least 2027 and beyond, but they get to move on from some of the other older vets.

It's a pick your poison scenario but despite what many here think it is possible.

fwiw, we're not competing next season so IMO you eat it now and move on. next season and into 2027 you move on from the others. At least the older vets give you veteran leadership even if their play is diminished.

Coming off of an major knee injury and won't be able to go until maybe mid to late 2025 at best. IMO he does like Ram and is PUP this whole season restructures his contract and then retires in 2026.

i'd rather a legitmate 2 year extension at a modest price for role and restructure the current monies to alleviate further cap. Taysom should be a guy you want in your building for 3 years.

Well then, play him behind an inexperienced O-line and let him get his arse kicked for a year.
