Could You Have Built A Better Roster Than CSP?

Over the years, the obvious questionable moves turned out to be doubtful results. What would you have done to the Saints roster that would have eclipsed what Payton was doing? Seems like his philosophy would be to outsmart everyone and find a diamond in the rough. fwiw I'm already liking what they have done since Payton has been gone. I really got tired of that dude.

I guess I'll go back and read all the post from 2006 to 2021 and find out

He built some of the worst defenses and special teams in the history of football
While having a HOF QB
So many waisted opportunities for mor SuperBowl wins
frick him
Glad he’s gone

I do think this board could have drafted better than him the past few years by just taking the "best available" player at the time.

The way they drafted always felt like Payton was in Loomis' ear telling him to "do whatever it takes to get me a difference maker in the secondary" because he thought they were one piece away
Explains some of their other dumbass moves like going and overspending on Jairus Byrd to fix a secondary that didn't have a single useful player

built, no
retained better players and not released players to replace them with not as good players, i think many here definitely could have done that with ease

Marques Colston was his first shot of heroin... He was addicted to that superior feeling of finding that diamond ...

Feel like he was always trying to replace what Sharper brought in the first half of the 09 season.

Payton formula was to win shootouts, we have done pretty good honestly. He left the cupboard bare at qb but Allen already fixed that. I can see them winning 10 games+ next year

If I could I’d be employed by a NFL team and not be miserable from 8-5

Totally missed that CSP was General Manager all those years. Wow what the hell are Loomis and Ireland employed for?

Because that’s Allen doing what Allen always does…winning 10+ in a typical season, right?

csp had 100% control of football operations
We improved a great deal when Jeff Ireland came on board.

Exactly. And a worthy goal.
Man I swear Sharp that year was about as good a Safety as I have seen. Ronnie Lott type.
