Could the Saints land DeAndre Hopknis ahead of the draft.

Bleacher Report hypothetical trade

Saints get Hopkins with Arizona eating some of his contract

Cardinal get the 71st pick (3rd) and Nickel Bradly Roby.

I'd very happy with that.

I doubt it.

Thomas, olave, Hopkins, and shaheed would be sick though

Eff that. He's on the wrong side of 30 and on the downside of his career.

We can get a good rotational player/eventual starter at #71; a guy like Cody Mauch, OT/G, North Dakota State. He could replace Peat next year

No thanks, he's on the decline and still wants record high money.

Wasn't he ranked as a top 5 guard/tackle at the combine? And you think he will drop to the 3rd round?

Yeah, I'm seeing him mocked more and more as a solid 2nd rounder. As you pointed out, he blew up at the Combine

But even if it's not Mauch, I think there will still be a few guys available at #71 who could be solid backups for a year, then start by year 2 or 3. I'd rather build that kind of solid roster depth than blow the budget on a player who is already starting to decline. We'd be paying Hopkins for what he has already done in the past, not for what he's going to do for us in the future

There is no need for Hopkins here when you need to continue to develop Olave and Shaheed.

Fair enough baw! I just knew he blew up at the combine and didn't think he would fall that far. I do agree with you though. No need to give up that pick and cap space.

Take it ... But That sounds just to good for the Saints to accept ... they like to mortgage the future when they trade away valuable asset ...

Fantasy sadly

Hopkins has missed 3 games due to a hamstring strain, 4 games due to an MCL tear, and 2 games due to a knee strain just in the last 2 seasons.

If Saints are lucky they'd get 17 combined games from Thomas and Hopkins. Hard pass.

And IMO he is becoming more and more suspect between the ears.

That would suck for him, he just had that Taco Bell put in house last season!
