Does anyone have access to advanced stats?

I want to know how much separation he is getting on his routes.

He has to be near the top

I have no idea what you do for a living, but i am pretty sure it is not an NFL analyst - and you should be happy with that, otherwise you would be unemployed

You really are an idiot who thinks he knows football when you really don’t know much about football. Of course, you will argue that, but if you could read some of the shite you post in a different perspective you would understand.

Nah it’s a realistic take and none of it can be disputed if you actually watched the games last year and what led to wins and losses.

He was fine last year. But he did cost us 3-4 games. And he can’t do that if the fanbase wants to comp him to JJ and Chase, just bc we spent a lot to get him and be as impactful to winning as one of those players.

I gave him his week 1 flowers and I stand by the rest of my take. If you don’t agree with me, you might want to check the film. We would’ve been an 11 win football team last year if Olave would’ve played better in key moments. Hopefully he is ready to be that consistent, dependable, clutch guy this season.

I do Think it’s telling that Shaheed got the look to close the game. Olave hasn’t earned that level of trust yet.

The Olave PI also would’ve been a 57 yard TD if not for the contact

if you truly believe Olave was the cause of us losing those games, you are a far bigger dumbass than I thought. our receiver's were 4 alarm dumpster fires full if dirty diapers. Olave was one of the only shining spots for the receivers last year.

Down vote for saying who #1 is...I'm both a LSU and Saints fan because I went to LSU but equally love both!

Ok I'll bite. What 3-4 games are you talking about?

Was never really about the player as much as it was the value.

They Saints still owe a pick in next years draft (2nd Rd).

The pick from the previous draft ended up being 1.9 (Jalen Carter)

That’s a lot of missed opportunities to build out the crumbling roster

I’m talking about the player. Plenty folks shite on Olave for various reasons, notably his YAC.

I don't recall anyone hating on Olave. Just the fact that at that point in time we needed a qb more than anything else. I didn't care for the Penning pick though. I still stand behind that.

I didn't even "shite on" him. I just said that's a weakness in his game. He's still slight of frame and has a lot of Brandin Cooks in his falldown game.

Also, my comments on it being a weakness play into what you said. The issue with Olave was never the player or where he was picked but the cost. My argument was always that he had to be a legit elite WR very quickly to justify that cost. One variable that will hold him back from that status is what was referenced in the paragraph above.

He's doing well, but he's still not showing the physicality you need for contested catches to be that elite WR. Where you see it most is in his running after the catch (constantly avoiding contact).

This thread made me re-visit what they gave up for him, and it still does not sit well with me.

None of this is Olave's fault. But the franchise made a huge snafu thinking they were 'win-now' in 2022 and that Olave would only play into that. That ended up being a terrible judgement by the team considering the 2023 pick turned into a top 10 selection. That one stings because not only did they give up too much in the moment, but the deal also became worse in time.

The trade is what it is, I get it, but we have a really good player and we should celebrate how good he is. 60%+ of the first round in any given draft will be dogshit, and we have a good player.

So I am just going to be excited about what we have.

I really really like what they were doing with him this last game. Pete was dialing some stuff up. Loved shifting him to the backfield and forcing them to put a LB on him. That was working all day.

It will be interesting with Kamara back if they can shift both Kamara and Olave into the backfield running separate routes and what kind of havoc that inflicts
