Chris Canty says Panthers, Saints & Seahawks should be on Baker Mayfield’s wish list

This morning on Get Up, Chris Canty said Baker should be looking at these teams. He said
quote:

New Orleans is probably the surprise on that list because they have Jamies Winston, but Jamies Winston has a visible limp as he’s moving through OTA’s and minicamp. There’s no guarantee that he will be fully healthy at the start of the season and New Orleans has championship aspirations.
He said Baker could be a stopgap option to start the season.

It’s speculation and the contract situation makes it unlikely. But has anyone heard anything about Winston having a ‘visable limp’?

Yeah I’m pretty sure that was the thought process with bringing Andy Dalton in. Probably set at QB behind Jameis with Book still on the roster and Taysom quite capable as the emergency QB, for now

At this point, it is pretty obvious

To OP, him limping shouldn't be a surprise as he's around 6 months post surgery. I am pretty sure he's still not cleared for contact, not that there would be contact now; and the expectation is he'll be 110% by preseason. As others pointed out, Dalton's $3M cap hit is for him to be the guy to start the season if Winston isn't 100%.

These writers get all pissy because Saints are going all in with Winston, then want the team to take on a $19M cap hit on a stop-gap for a few games?

I don't understand the hate on Winston. Is it because we had Drew for so long and were so successful with him? Is it because Winston had that dreadful season with 30 INTs? Is it because of the injury last year? 5-2 before the injury and people still sh*t on him.

Visible limp? Yeah, I'd expect as much being so recent from surgery AND rehab every day with working out like a mad-man to try and get back to regular season form.

I personally would rather run with Dalton vs Mayfield. I don't see Mayfield fitting in here.

Red Rifle is a MUCH better option than Mayfield if Jameis fails or gets injured again.

Red Rifle is still a legit NFL QB and with the weapons we have could be dangerous if given the chance.

I'm sure the Saints would have a nice long talk with Jarvis Landry before they would deal for Mayfield.

Yeah it was mentioned, but a lot of people were thinking it was because of the giant brace he is wearing on his knee.

Winston had good numbers before he got hurt. He is better QB today. He is more mature and has better veteran presence in hurdle.

Why would he wish to be Jabo's back up when he could possibly start while Watson is suspended?
