Nah.

You trade for Carr. Then you draft Hendon Hooker.

Carr is the best available QB and he's better than anyone on our roster.

Hooker "might be" the QB of the future. We won't know that until we have him for a while.

But you get Carr and make a run. The Saints will be a better team with Carr than with either of the other 2 we have currently.

Then you try to get Hooker ready to go and hope learns and grows and when he's ready, you give him the reigns.

i'd take a bagent with our 6th or 7th and wait on drafting a "qb of the future" til we see how we do with carr. he's only 32 with one of the stronger arms in the league and good athleticism for a qb.

we have needs for our top two picks and spending a 2nd round pick on hooker isn't one of them.

if we don't sign carr, i'd rather draft a qb in the first round of a deep '24 class.

Hooker is way too old to draft as a potential project.

Absolutely.

Find a 3rd party to hold the $

Easy money.

*Carr has to be QB.

I’d rather be in a position where I could flip a coin between getting Kamara and Braun while having to compete for Carr with other teams in FA than giving up that coin flip and having Carr with certainty

Its basically what Cleveland did with Baker. Happens alot

Raiders can get out of his deal for next to nothing. They’re eating $5M dead money even in a trade. They’re not taking on much of his wage for a 3rd. They’ll just cut him. There will be top picks and/or players moved for a wage eating scenario.

They are headed to Ralph’s on the Park

Makes sense- parades are rolling and there’s a Pelicans game- traffic sucks- at least Ralph’s isn’t a cluster to get to.

To trade for him so there's no bidding war in FA. The better question is why would Carr come to the Saints? He'd have to take a significant pay cut to come here which says a lot to me he cares more about winning than money. He could definitely get a lot more money somewhere else. Maybe Saints give him a prove it deal which I'd be fine by if it's friendly to Saints. Just as long as they don't go crazy with draft picks. Raiders should be happy with a 7th they have 0 leverage in this and it doesn't appear anyone else is trying to trade.

This is all motivated by how bad our division is. Carr could easily win it. The problem here is he good enough to win a SB? I say no unless you can find him the perfect fit at OC which it doesn't appear they have interest in canning the little nerd on the sidelines.

So you draft Hooker, who is 25, and have him sit during the +EV portion of his contract, and if things work out perfectly, you have to make a decision on him as a 29-year old going into his first non-rookie deal?

What could go wrong?

I think saints announce trade on Tuesday. That gives the Super Bowl champs all the news tomorrow.

Saints are like 60 million over the cap. That's why. They'd have to do some serious cap management to make it work in which case you have to ask yourself, is he really worth it after you purge your roster?
