The only thing dumber than this argument is calling someone a casual that disagrees with your point. Such a ridiculous and childish tactic. Go ahead with your revisionist history.

And btw I said in the original post that they had interest in Carr which they did. We can argue all day about the level of interest but to say no one had Interest at that time is just flat out wrong.

You said jets/panthers were “in on signing” him and eluded that the saints out offered them. This is revisionist history because it’s completely made up, there’s no evidence of this at all. There’s maybe one article stating that jets/panthers talked to Carr which doesn’t at all mean they were seriously interested in him. It’s even more obvious that they weren’t interested because the Jets had their eyes on Rodgers and Panthers had the #1 pick in the draft. Just use common fricking sense and it will tell you they were never “in on signing Carr”

And I didn’t call you a casual until you called me disingenuous. So don’t play the victim with me. Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it buddy

Carr is the equivalent of Chipotle when it comes to Nola restaurants.

It took Matthew Stafford 13 years to win his first playoff game.

make sense for Carr to leave the money on the table. Everything he’s said and indicated is that he wouldn’t take any pay cuts, couple that with his inability to shoulder blame and I think something else is at play. I actually believe he injured that shoulder in a non-football manner and he’s saving face, otherwise the Saints were going to fight it

It's no conspiracy. He didn't want to get the surgery to come back to a place he hated and wasn't liked.

He is thinking about life after football.

MRI showed degenerative change and priorlabral injury.

Why didn’t Oschner catch this prior to the extension?

The saints knew about the injury the entire time.

I think Carr was the wrong fit for the Saints beyond the field. That matters no matter where you play.

You are either all in or you're not.

You’ll never see anyone wearing a Carr Saints jersey. Hell, I mean the dude hardly ever wore his own

He was just so damn aloof. But yes, basically no one not named Mahomes or Allen or Jackson cant save this damn team until Loomis gets the hell out of here. It is a train wreck. I feel sorry for the talent that does luck up here.

All I remember is seeing reports leaning him towards the jets. To say there were never serious is a bit disingenuous. Once Carr went to NO they pivoted toward a Rodgers trade.

He took private meetings and was negotiating with the jets, but sure they had no interest.

Sure maybe they were interested in him at $15 million a year or a cheap 1-year prove it deal. But there’s zero evidence to suggest we outbid anyone or we were competing against another team to get him.

You weren’t in the room, you have no clue what they were offering.

The Raiders did cut him, but they were also paying him over 40 million a year. And that was before qb contracts blew up. So yea I get why they didn’t want to pay him that much.

He was almost last in salary for starting qbs not on rookie contracts.

Why would any team want a good QB, above average is better than good. He was at the lower end of good.

No everyone gets to be a superhero.

Carr was a good enough QB to not lose games for you but wasn't a QB that could lead a team or carry a team to the playoffs/SB. He needed leaders around him, and much better skill players than Oakland/LV and New Orleans provided him with. (Though he played with some really good skill players in Thomas, Adams, Meyers, Kamara. etc.) Just not enough of them.

You drop a QB like Carr into a system that is already build and only a QB away and IMO he has a much better career, maybe even makes a run.

My fault isn't with him, it's with the personal staff, coaching staff and management that did not see this and realize Carr alone wasn't the answer to getting the Saints back on track with playoff runs. That's what these guys get paid to do, to know personal and how it fits and what limitations there are.

You don't need to be Tom Brady to get ot the Super Bowl as a QB, Just ask

Jimmy Garoppolo 2019 (SF)
Nick Foles 2017 (Eagles)
Cam Newton 2015 (Panthers)
Rex Grossman 2006 (Bears)
Matt Hasselbeck 2005 (Seahawks)
Jake Delhomme 2003 (Panthers)
Rich Gannon 2002 (Raiders)
Kerry Collins 2000 (Giants)
Trent Dilfer 2000 (Raiders)
Chris Chandler 1998 (Falcons)

I'd bet if you dropped a healthy Derek Carr into any of those teams as QB they still get to the SB. Maybe even some of the ones that lost actually win.

Couple things are true

1a. The saints shouldn’t have signed him

OR

1b. The saints shouldn’t have half assed building around him. Either go all in or don’t go at all.

And Carr is a weirdo and not a very good teammate/leader

It just didn’t work. I don’t hate the guy and don’t think he’s a bad player either. Just move on.
