This thread is why I hate the term "rotator cuff." Most people think that it's an actual, individual body part and don't realize it's several muscles/tendons, and each injury can be totally different.

gain, a complete tear would cause the most pain & Brees would then have to have his arm immobilized. That's not the case if it is a partial tear. He could very easily have a partial tear & is weighing his option of surgery which would end his season or rehab which he could possibly be back in a few months at this point. You are talking nonsense man.

That's not technically correct. Quite often a complete tear hurts less than a partial in Many soft tissue injuries. Fox is also incorrect in assuming a complete tear(or any rc tear) would necessarily be in a sling immediately. Immediate action would depend on a number of factors including ability to get accurate imaging due to edema and joint effusion (swelling),current range of motion, and timeline to any possible surgical intervention.

Henry Rowangartner suffered an injury in his final inning as the Cub's closer. He stayed in the game and was able to strike out the best hitter in baseball after the injury to this throwing shoulder.

Drew's leaving Ochsner and heading to see Dr. Andrews.

How is this not a possibility? I think we all can agree Drew injured his arm yesterday, right? Common sense would say if he had any lingering discomfort this morning he would have a MRI on a shoulder that was already surgerically once, right? Wouldn't he want the same doctor who rebuilt his shoulder to exam the results from the MRI, right? It's not like his shoulder isn't worth millions, right?

Im not being stubborn, I get that you don't need a sling. If you're having surgery to right away to prevent a full tear (because small tears don't require surgery, they heal on their own) then the arm would be in a sling as a preventative measure. He'd be wearing it out of necessity after surgery.

Gotcha. Any chance he possibly worsened any soft tissue injury by trying to play through the pain & continuing to throw?

Again, I'm not saying it's a necessity, I'm saying it's a precaution you'd take for your $100 million quarterback. If you're going to have season ending surgery to prevent a full tear, then I'd only imagine that you're not going to let him sling the garbage bag over his shoulders. It's a preventative measure. If it were a full tear, do I need to explain that?

Depends on what was actually injured. It's not as simple as a "rc tear" there are 4 muscles that make up the rc. I listened to the game on the radio so I'm not sure what play he was injured on/what the mechanism for injury was.

What part about weighing his options if it is small tear do you not get? @ you if you think he had surgery last night without getting multiple opinions from physicians on his options.

Maybe we can petition Archbishop Aymond to get Pope Francis to make a special trip to the Crescent City. It seemed to work for the Saints back in 1987, maybe it can work again to help Brees and the team.

Dude if it has been determined that he has an injury that they have determined needs surgery, often patients will go in for "prehab" to work on diminishing swelling, maintaining ROM and strength in surrounding musculature. This can get you into surgery quicker. He's not going to do anything nearly forceful enough in this activity to further injure his tendon.

His arm was hit in the middle of his throwing motion. It wasn't a good look.

There are two gifs on here that show the hit from different angles.

Rumors got the Keenan Lewis right. If this is true, Saints should pull a colts and dump the rest of the season. Put Grayson out there.

I can't even imagine the Saints going out on the field without drew calling the shots. Good grief.

Strief ending Drew's career with the Saints won't put him in the ring of honor.
