We obviously should have won that game yesterday, but there are things we could’ve done weeks and weeks ago to improve our chances of advancing.

Next season the focus needs to be paving the same route we rode to the SB before. Get into 1st place week 1 and don’t give it up.

Has to be the focus
Opening 0-2 basically took it out of play. Need to start fast

Home field advantage didn't cost us that game and we very much proved we didn't need it. A brain fart away from going to the Eagles and having a legit shot at the SB.

I don't think Foles would have been able to get anything going against us, and outside giving up a few big runs here and there our run D is solid down to down.

That said, yes it would be awesome to get HFA, but I just want to be in the dance and would easily trade health for HFA if it came down to it.

i don't necessarily disagree but one thing that pissed me off last week was everyone jumping to the conclusion that we'd beat Minnesota. Then there was a thread that turned into a pissing match about who would you rather play in the NFCCG game before the early games even started on Saturday.

its like.. Hello we need to worry about winning in the divisional round first.

Proud of the way the team battled back from being down 17-0. That took a lot of guts considering the amount of injuries we've had all year.

Saints are 1-5 on the road in the playoffs under Payton. Have to have HFA.

The issue isn't their offense, but their DL

They have arguably one of the best 3 in the league and with Armstead out with a torn hip flexor...we'd be even thinner on the left side.

Unless you had Ramczyk go to LT for the first time since week 1. If you didn't you're looking at a Kelemete-LeRibeus left side. Not ideal.

It’s funny our fan base can not grasp the concept of HFA after the two biggest heartbreakers in team history being SF ‘11 and yesterday. Going down 17-0 and the early unsettled nerves, the turnovers. You win both those games in the Dome

Check the home road splits it aint rocket Science

that wouldn't surprise me if we did. The league will look back and say.. wow that was a great game that had nice ratings.

We also need better doctors. We Can't have 21 people on IR And 13 starters out.
We need to get out of that Ochsner contract. They may as well be our Asik

If they win the SB I would say that it would be a pretty good chance.

Of course that means a win at Philly and then probably a win over the Pats.

No that didn’t.

During the tail end of that 8 game win streak for us, we were neck and neck with the Eagles, Rams, and Vikings for the top seeds.

Problem is, the Saints always find ways to lose against the teams they are supposed to beat. That L.A. and first Atlanta loss hurt.

Kind of like how Shreveport is basically Texas, the first 2 games of this season were basically last year’s team. Getting off to a good start is huge for home field advantage and home field advantage goes a long way in terms of getting favorable calls.

Great post, Captain Obvious.

Thanks for taking this board to a new low.

As another poster mentioned, 1-5 on the road in playoffs under Payton. HFA is an absolute must.

I agree that it would help to start fast but opening the season at the Vikings (probably the best NFC team right now) and versus the Patriots (defending SB champs and best AFC team) made that really difficult. The Saints responded extremely well. The 2 losses that hurt were the Rams and first Falcons. Pick those two up and beat the Bucs at the end of the year would have made the difference, but they're undefeated after starting 0-2, so yeah

This.

This franchise is 1-7 lifetime in road playoff games. If we're not in the Dome, the chances are slim.

they changed doctors at the beginning of the season. But, most of those on IR would not have been fixed with the nest medical staff. 2 players were with physical defects, 3 concussions, there were a few players with broken bones. Breaux had a set back on the practice field when he returned. Anzalone pretty much reinjured the same shoulder that bothered him in college....

IMO, Armstead, Klein & Vacarro were the only main players that "could" have been helped with a different/better medical staff.
